Team Sheet: Washington

Steve Fiorindo
What Happened: Went down to Long Beach for season opener and came away with just a tie in game three after losing the first two.

Carrying Tool: The offense. The offense looked better than they performed this weekend anyway, especially at the top of the order.  The top half of the lineup has some returners coming off some solid years, and the lineup is littered with returners.

Concerns: Pitching. The starting rotation has some upperclassmen and experience, but there wasn’t a lot of ‘big stuff’, more pitch to contact types that left them with a small margin for error.  Kirchoff was solid in game 2 giving them 5 strong, as did Spencer Dessart in game 3.  If they can get stretched out to get them 7 innings it will take a lot of stress off of the bullpen

Best Player on the Field:  I liked Jeter Ybarra at the JUCO level at Ohlone, and he looked good this past weekend for the Husky’s at 1B.  Long, lean framed first baseman, lefty bat, throwing right, moves well with soft hands around the bag.  Moves well enough to envision him in LF.  Showed pull side power in BP and hit a missile to dead center in game for a home run.  Barreled multiple balls in game primarily working oppo gap to the pull side.
