Derek Curiel (2024, West Covina, Calif.) who comes to Hoover as the top player in the 2024 class, continues to show the carrying tools that have driven his name not only to the top of the rankings but toward the top of early draft boards as we kick off the 2024 draft cycle. The bat to ball skills has consistently been the calling card for Curiel as he seemingly finds a barrel each time he steps in the box. This week has been no different for the LSU commit as he has four hits through two games and drew the short stick on his hardest hit ball to this point with a line drive right at the short stop that would have undoubtedly split a gap if his two feet in either direction of the fielder.
