This Friday, the 4th annual Florida Select Championship kicks off in Fort Myers, FL, with over 40 teams battling it out.

The youngest of the age groups brings 13 teams to the table in the 15U division, with the top four teams advancing on the bracket play Monday.

Hector Sosa (Mlb Academy) and Yusef Charles (Travel Team Prime), will certainly be players to watch out for in the division.

Sosa, an elite two-way player and top-15 ranked third basemen in Florida, has been off to a hot start behind the plate in 2023, batting .371, with three doubles and 12 RBIs through 14 games. In 2022, the right-hander also tossed 60 innings on the mound, striking out 40, while allowing just a 2.90 ERA.

Charles, heralding out of Maitland, Florida, is also an impressive two-way talent, already ripping three triples in nine games this calendar year. Last season, the 5-11 right-hander struck out 14 over 21.1 innings of work, while giving up just five earned runs.

Following a 2-2 weekend at the 15U BCS National Qualifiers, Florida Padres 15u, who are playing up this weekend, could be the team to beat throughout 16U.

Bringing in four top-1000 players in the nation, the Miami, FL, ball club looks to make some noise against older competition.

Michael Vigil, a top-10 right-handed pitcher in 2026, headlines the talented roster. Allowing just over his past 61.1 innings dating back to 2021. Vigil also possesses a high-80’s fastball that struck out 27 batters in just 20.1 innings last year.

And Bryan Borges, a top-40 catcher in the nation, will be a player to watch behind the plate all weekend. In just 10 games in 2023, the 15-year-old has raked two doubles, to go along with 10 runs, three RBIs and an impressive .600 OBP.

In 17U, Ballers Baseball 17u looks to build on its 3-2 finish at the BCS National Championship Qualifier last weekend.

Nicolas Partridge, the No. 4 ranked third baseman in the nation, looks to replicate his showing last weekend where he batted .467, ripping two doubles and driving in six RBIs. A University of Florida commit, Partridge is a strong right-hander on the mound, allowing just one earned run in 16 innings last year and striking 24 victims.

However, not only is the Ballers ace, but one of the top-40 right-handed pitchers in Florida, Seth Patterson also hopes to replicate a strong weekend where he topped 91 mph on the mound and struck out six in five innings.

The oldest of four divisions comes equipped with plenty of next level talent, especially from Siege Scout Team.

An Honorable Mention nationally in Perfect Game rankings, the Port Saint Lucie club is led by top-500 players Mel Rubiera, Andy Hernandez, Jonathan Gonzalez and Jeovanni Hernandez

Siege, along with several other teams, will begin their weekend bright and early Friday with games starting at 8:00 a.m.
