Regional Previews: Florida | Georgia | Pacific | Deep South | Texas | Southwest | Coastal

States Represented: NJ, PA, MD, DE, DC

Middle infielder Kevin McGonigle is the Mid-Atlantic Region’s only PG All-American but the left-handed hitter is also the fifth ranked player in the 2023 class and has an outstanding chance to be a first round draft pick this July.  The Region’s strength this year is in their pitching, as all five pitchers on the team, led by New Jersey senior right-hander Steven Echavarria and Pennsylvania junior right-hander Tegan Kuhns, have plenty of projectability remaining.

The Mid-Atlantic Region features three teams in the PG Pre-Season Top 50 rankings, led by Archbishop Spalding HS (Mary.) in the 28th slot.  The Cavalier’s have at least five pitchers with D1 commits on their pitching staff, including high ceiling junior right hander Jake Yeager.  Ranney HS and Don Bosco Prep, ranked 39th and 41st respectfully, run neck and neck as the top team in New Jersey entering the spring.

C –  Aidan Paradine (Jr., Bayonne HS, N.J.)
Paradine is a strong and mature catcher with big offensive potential for the position.  A right-handed hitter, Paradine has a high contact swing that has produced only 33 strikeouts  versus 65 walks in 160 career PG games to go with a .392-3-122 line.  He’s committed to Georgia Tech

1B –  Amari Allen (Sr., Sherwood HS, D.C.)
Allen dominated on both sides of the ball for the Maryland Class 4A champions as a junior, hitting 506-13-47 and going 9-0, 0.44 on the mound with 81 strikeouts in 48 innings.  The 6-foot-4, 225-pound southpaw has huge left-handed power and has been up to 91 mph on the mound.

MIF –  Kevin McGonigle (Sr. Monsignor Bonner HS, Pa.)
McGonigle is the fifth ranked player overall in the 2023 class nationally and is considered a strong bet to hear his name picked in the first round of the draft.  A 6.56 runner who profiles best at second base in the future, the left-handed hitting McGonigle is widely considered to have the best “Hit” tool in the 2023 class.

MIF –  Lee Ellis (Sr., Pro5 Baseball Academy, Mary.)
Ellis is a very quick twitch and athletic middle infielder who is ranked 73rd overall in the 2023 class nationally.  His tools really stood out at the 2022 PG National Showcase, where he ran a 6.41 sixty and threw 96 mph during infield drills.  The right-handed hitter and South Carolina signee played at Bishop McNamara HS in Maryland as a junior but is attending Pro5 Academy in North Carolina this spring.

3B –  Andre Modugno (Jr., IMG Academy, N.J.)
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Modugno is a physically impressive and very toolsy athlete with a high ceiling.  He’s a 6.54 runner even at his size and has the athleticism to stay on the left side of the infield, including 96 mph arm strength across the diamond.  A right-handed hitter, better and more consistent contact will the be key to his future development.

OF –  AJ Gracia (Sr., Ranney HS, N.J.)
Gracia is a two-way standout for Ranney High School’s defending state champions as a left-handed pitcher and power hitting outfielder.  He hit 12 home runs as a junior last spring and is a career .366 hitter with a 1.011 OPS in PG play.  The Duke signee is likely a primary outfielder at the college level but his upper 80’s fastball will likely get him a look on the mound as well.

OF –  Chase Krewson (Sr., South Fayette Township HS, Pa.)
Krewson is the second outfielder on the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team who has signed with Duke and will be joining AJ Gracia in the ACC next year.  Krewson is a very similar player as a strong-armed left-hander with some power in his bat.  He hit .400 in PG games last year and has a 94 mph outfield throw to his credit.

OF –  Luca Reyes (Sr., Bergen Catholic HS, N.J.)
The left-handed hitting Reyes is a very projectable 6-foot-2, 185-pound outfielder who will be attending Miami next year.  He hit .414-2-27 last spring for Bergen Catholic High School and has hit .340 with a .993 OPS over the last two years in PG play.

RHP –  Steven Echavarria (Sr., Milburn HS, N.J.)
Echavarria is the top ranked senior prospect in New Jersey and it would surprise few scouts if he took a big step forward this spring and became a Day One draft prospect.  Echavarria is young for the 2023 class and has very fast and loose arm that has produced a fastball up to 94 mph to go with a nasty 80 mph slider that is his best pitch.  He went 6-2, 1.79 with 50 strikeouts in 39 innings for Milburn HS last spring.

RHP –  Miguel Hugas (Sr., Shaler Area HS, Pa.)
Hugas, who came to the United States from Venezuela in 2020, created a stir at the 2022 PG National Showcase when he unleashed a PG record 102 mph throw from the outfield during drills.  The 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete obviously didn’t match that on the mound but did work up to 94 mph with good command of his fastball to go with a very effective change up.

RHP – Alex Kranzler (Sr., Old Tappan HS, N.J.)
Kranzler took a big jump with his fastball in 2022, going from an upper 80’s thrower as a sophomore to a mid-90’s arm as a junior, topping out at 96 mph at PG events to go with a slider and change up.  A Vanderbilt signee, Kranzler is a two-way standout in high school as he hit .514-3-26 as a junior along with striking out 114 hitters in 73 innings while only issuing 18 walks.

RHP –  Tegan Kuhns (Jr., Gettysburg Area HS, Pa.)
Kuhns is the top ranked junior in Pennsylvania and the 28th overall ranked prospect in the 2024 class nationally.  The very projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-hander has been up to 93 mph at PG events with lots more in his arm, with his best pitch being a power curveball with 2,800+ spin rates and hard downer bite.

RHP – Blake Morningstar (Sr., Wyalusing Valley HS, Pa.)
Morningstar is a strong bodied 6-foot-5, 210-pound right-hander with a fastball that tops out at 94 mph to go with a power curveball that is his best pitch both in terms of quality and in command.  A Wake Forest signee, Morningstar is also a standout on the basketball court and has surpassed 1,000 points in his high school hoops career.

UT – Tommy Roldan (Jr., Georgetown Prep, Mary.)
Roldan is a primary left-handed pitcher and comes armed with a three-pitch mix that includes a fastball that tops out at 92 mph, an outstanding change up and a late breaking slider, all from a very deceptive delivery that makes his raw stuff play up.  It wouldn’t be surprising to see him suit up both ways for Virginia during his career there, as he’s an athletic outfielder/first baseman with 6.81 speed and some pop in his bat.

Mid-Atlantic Region Top Tools

Best Hitter for Average: Kevin McGonigle (Sr. Monsignor Bonner HS, Pa.)
McGonigle’s short and powerful swing produced a .506 average with 11 home runs in 27 games to go along with only two strikeouts last spring.  He’s a career .409 hitter in 122 PG games in his career and has only strike out 22 time in nearly 400 plate appearances in that time.

Best Hitter for Power: Andre Modugno (Jr., IMG Academy, N.J.)
Modugno gets the nod here for raw power but otherwise this category is a toss-up.  Amauri Allen and AJ Gracia have better barrel skills and put up real home run numbers, while Kevin McGonigle produces power numbers simply because he squares the ball up virtually every time he comes to the plate.

Best Runner: Lee Ellis (Sr., Pro5 Baseball Academy, Mary.)
The Mid-Atlantic Region isn’t full of speedsters, which makes the lightning quick Ellis stand out in this category.

Best Defensive Catcher: Gavin Kelly (Jr., Pittsburgh Central Catholic HS, Pa.)
Kelly is a former middle infielder with 6.7 speed who has transitioned to a full-time catcher.  That middle infield athleticism and quickness has already been very impressive in his overall defense behind the plate.

Best Defensive Infielder: Lee Ellis (Sr., Pro5 Baseball Academy, Mary.)
Ellis has some of the best middle infield tools in the country and his athleticism plays up in games as well.  He and McGonigle would be an outstanding middle infield pair playing together, with Ellis manning shortstop and McGonigle second base.

Best Defensive Outfielder: Chase Krewson (Sr., South Fayette Township HS, Pa.)
Krewson has a nice combination of speed and arm strength and plenty of experience running down balls in center field.

Best Defensive Arm: Miguel Hugas (Sr., Shaler Area HS, Pa.)
Yes, Hugas is a primary pitcher but when you hold a PG record for outfield velocity, that gets you on the list.  It will be interesting to see if that arm strength that Hugas has shown from the outfield can result in a bump in his fastball velocity on the mound.

Best Fastball: Alex Kranzler (Sr., Old Tappan HS, N.J.)
Kranzler has a big and strong 6-foot-3, 212-pound power pitcher’s body and a power pitcher’s approach to attacking hitters.  There are plenty of reports that he’s been over his PG high of 96 mph already this spring.

Best Off-Speed Stuff: Tegan Kuhns (Jr., Gettysburg Area HS, Pa.)
Kuhns curveball is the top breaking ball in the Region and has a chance to be one of the top breaking balls in the 2024 class, especially as Kuhns continues to fill out and get stronger and add even more power to the pitch.

Best Pitchability: Zachary Konstantinovsky (Sr., North Brunswick HS, N.J.)
Konstantinovsky’s number from his junior spring are absurd, as the right-hander went 7-0, 0.71 with 119 strikeouts and only TWO walks in 67 innings.  The Rutgers signee has topped out at 90 mph at PG events with precise command of his curveball and change up.  His PG numbers don’t look too much different than his high school numbers:  61 strikeouts versus four walks in 33 innings over the last two years.

Best Multi-Sport Athlete: Johnathan Coombs (So. DeMatha HS, Mary.)
Coombs, who goes by the nickname “Bud” for football, is the 67th ranked player in the 2025 class nationally in baseball but may end up just as highly ranked as a running back in football by the time he’s a senior.  The 5-10-185-pound speedster is already collecting offers from some of the top programs in the country.

Most Likely To Make a Huge Jump in the Rankings in 2026 RJ Shields (2027, Venice, Fl.) Shields took some significant strides throughout 2025, especially on the mound. The fastball reached 95 mph in recent months and he projects well with great athleticism and a sharp breaking ball. Shields is also a left-handed bat with good thump in the stick. The Mississippi State commit shot up the rankings following a loud fall and looks poised to continue to climb. -KP High speed BP swing from '27 OF Gavin Ruvalcaba (FL)... #JrNational @Florida_PG https://t.co/OwU9I0u6eY pic.twitter.com/gjYZbmCPGE — PG Showcases (@PGShowcases) June 12, 2025 Gavin Ruvalcaba (2027, Hialeah, Fl.) Ruvalcaba had a very strong 2025 and looks to be continuing on that path. The Duke commit has plenty of athleticism and is very well rounded with good tools across the board. The stroke is smooth and produces...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 | Class of 2028 These guys might just be entering high school, but they've certainly already made a name for themselves on the national circuit, especially with their abilities on the defensive side of things.  C: Xavier Rodriguez (Logansville, GA) Rodriguez is a polished defender with real arm strength behind the dish, while showcasing the ability to impact the baseball with authority to all fields evident by thirty of his sixty-five hits going for extra-bases including seven bombs. He handles high-level pitching extremely well, commands his staff and his offensive prowess makes him a true two-way asset. 1B: Cooper Knight (Buda, TX) Knight is a smooth operator at first base with plenty of range, fluidity and agility in his footwork around the bag. Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Best Tournament Performance I Saw: Surely someone has already brought this...

Nebraska Cornhuskers 2025 Highlights: The Cornhuskers were a difficult team to figure in ’25 as they finished with 33 wins, played just .500 (15-15) in the Big Ten but had some big wins at various times during the season and got hot at the right time. They knocked off then #16 Vanderbilt in the second game of the year, beat #5 Oregon State 2-out-of-3 at home in late March and then got hot at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha to win the Big Ten Tournament. They beat Michigan State in a 10-inning thriller before taking care of #4 Oregon, knocking off Penn State and then shutout #13 UCLA to punch their ticket to the Chapel Hill Regional. Head coach Will Bolt has now led his alma mater to three conference titles and three NCAA Regional appearances during his six years in Lincoln. No different than when he was a player, Bolt’s teams play with passion and toughness, this was never more...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 You like athletes? You like defenders who can impact a game at any given point? Look not further than this class as it's loaded from coast-to-coast with elite defenders all over the diamond.  C: Brogan Witcher, Bakersfield, CA Our scouting staff got several strong looks at Witcher whether that was at the Summer Kickoff, Sophomore National or the Underclass All American Games where he showcased his strong overall skillset and especially his advanced ability behind the plate. His 6-foot-3,180 pound build looks like one that will fill in quite nicely and be that big and physical catcher’s frame. His arm talent is undeniable where he gets it out quick and runs it up to 79 mph on throwdowns to 2nd (1.84 pop). Besides the standout catch/throw ability, we’ve seen him frame/receive strong arms and block it well during...

BURLINGTON, IA - 2025 Perfect Game Softball Toys 4 Tots Fundraiser One Day, December 7, 2025. Kicking off the holiday season, six teams participated in this one day, 3 game guarantee tournament in the 18u Division. We would like to thank those that donated a toy, and know that they will be distributed to area underprivileged children through a local charity organization. Following are some of the top performers from the weekend. Earning Tournament MV-Pitcher was Jolee Strohmeyer (2026 Dubuque, IA), a RHP/UTIL with tournament champion Lady Expos Blue. Strohmeyer shows hitters a consistent and repeatable motion and delivery with good use of the legs in the drive phase, and a quick and aggressive arm whip. Working with a six pitch mix of fastball, change-up, rise, drop, curve and screw, Strohmeyer topped out at 60 mph, and showed good movement  as she worked her rise and curve just out...

The game was an efficiently played affair with arms dominating on both sides. Graham Schlicht was masterful for Alpha, striking out 12 hitters over 5 dominant innings. PG All-American Julian Cazares came out of the pen blowing smoke, touching 97 mph with the fastball. On the other side, Jake Carbaugh surrendered just one hit and...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 Elite defenders from coast to coast certainly seems to be a strength and to think you could make another top-tier team without thinking, speaks to the real depth this group possesses. The infield is a no-doubt strength of the group, but what catcher Dariel Carrion can do behind the plate is like something we haven't seen in a while in the prep ranks with an absolutely bazooka of an arm.  C: Dariel Carrion (San Juan, PR)  It isn’t often you get a catching prospect as athletic and natural as Dariel Carrion, a big reason why he holds the rank of #1 player in PR and #18 nationally. Metrics wise, the 5-foot-10, 210 pound San Juan native is all you can ask for and more, posting a sub 1.80 pop time with an 84 mph arm behind the dish. He has both contact and clear power threat on the offensive end, ending 2025 with a .337 BA and 4 HRs while also...

The Class of 2026 is one of the deeper prep classes that we have seen in a couple of years. With that being said, there is plenty of talent on the defensive side. Let’s take a look at some of the best defenders in the class.  C: Will Brick, Christian Brothers HS (Memphis, TN) Brick is a newcomer to the class after reclassifying, but immediately became the top backstop. Extremely advanced actions are shown behind the dish with impressive athleticism to go with it. Brick showcases big time arm strength and is consistently accurate on throw downs. He can make playing the position look extremely easy at times. Brick possesses all the defensive tools needed to be a premier catcher.  1B: AJ Curry, University City HS (San Diego, CA) Curry has a bigger and stronger frame with good strength throughout.
