Talk about having a weekend, Mason Metz (2025, Pittsburgh, Pa.) put up impressive numbers including a .467 average with four doubles and four RBI. The physically built 6-foot, 210-pound catching prospect did damage in about every way imaginable over the course of the tournament, using foul line to foul line with no real weakness in the stroke. Metz has evident strength all over the place, using a slightly open stance and higher compact hand set with a minimal load that limited any unnecessary movement. He created drive with the lower half, getting the barrel out in front with easy carry on the baseball gap-to-gap. During the latter part of the tournament, opposing coaches were trying just about anything to get Metz out, including a defensive pull-side shift in which Metz successfully took to knock baseballs to the opposite field. Going to quickly grab the attention of coaches if this becomes the norm for the ‘25 name.
