FORT MYERS, Fla. -- After being crowned co-champions at last summer's 17U BCS National Championship, Dallas Patriots 17U Stout is back at this year's 17u BCS, but this time sporting an entirely new roster.

“We bring a brand new group each summer and it’s fun, we get to know and get to coach new kids,” Head Coach Logan Stout said Tuesday.

“It is an adjustment, we always try and get together before the season for two weeks to try and build rapport. We just go play and have fun and really try to get the guys prepared for college baseball, that’s really what we’re fired up about.”

This year's group has not had any issues through three games, outscoring their opponents 29-6 through pool play so far.

Following a narrow 5-4 win the day prior, the Patriots came away with a no-sweat win their second time around, a 16-2 victory over Rake Baseball Academy.

“I think sometimes guys just tried to do too much, especially yesterday morning,” Stout said postgame. “Eight o'clock in the morning, seven o'clock in the morning Dallas time, guys get off an airplane and you know, it is what it is, no excuses. But today they had a chance to sleep good last night and come in a little bit better.”

Four different players finished with a multi-RBI performance in the big victory, along with nine different notching a run in the scorecard.

Zach Makarewich led the way in the RBI column with a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth, with Cade Ladehoff finishing right behind him with three of his own.

Makarwich continued his hot streak into his team's third and final pool play game, a 8-0 victory over Arapahoe High School, tying the team-lead for RBI with two, alongside Bynum Martinez.

“An event like this, it’s almost like survival of the fittest. Who’s taking care of their bodies, especially with the heat, humidity, and lightning delays,” Stout said on preparing for the rest of this week. “At the end of the day, I believe in these boys, I believe if they play like they're capable of great things are gonna happen, and that's what we're hoping for in this tournament.”
