15u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Ashton Wetmiller (2025, Vero Beach, Fla.) was on the mound to start the first game of the week for the Florida Panthers 15u. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound RHP went the distance, with 7 innings, scattering 8 hits, surrendering no runs, no walks and striking out 4. He worked almost exclusively off his fastball that he located to all quadrants of the plate and elevating often to induce soft contact. Working from the third base side of the rubber and using an abbreviated leg lift, he worked quickly down the slope and filled up the zone. With a short arm stroke, in line with his body, Wetmiller strides slightly across his midline creating good deception and angle. His fastball sat in the upper-70s, grabbing 79 from time to time and showed a vertical breaker in the mid-60s. He made a ton of high leverage pitches showing excellent competitiveness and he set his team up very well for the rest of the week.
