UBC East Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2

Getting the 8:00 am start for the Dirtbags in the stadium was southpaw Justin Leguernic (2023, Dix Hills, N.Y.), and the Clemson commit was very good during his time on the hill. He’s a super projectable left-hander with a ton of projection 6-foot-5, 200-pound frame with solid athleticism and a low effort overall operation. The arm stroke is loose through the back and Leguernic worked up to 92 mph with his fastball in the first inning of work. There’s some deception but there’s good feel to work the fastball to both halves of the plate. The heater gets some easy carry up in the zone and was able to miss bats well. Leguernic had really good feel for his sweeping slider which was very effective against right-handed hitters. He flashed a changeup but mostly cruised at 88-90 mph throughout, throwing good strikes and not exerting much effort. It’s a very very high follow heading into the rest of the summer as it’s not hard to squint and see the first-round upside if he starts coming out throwing a little harder over the next couple of months.
