Super Regional NIT Scout Notes: Day 1

The morning started off with a bang at Bear Creek Field for the Motor City Hit Dogs National. Hitting in the cleanup spot, Broder Katke (2027, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) connected on fastball that went over the center field wall for a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Using a leg kick trigger to stay synced up, he showed quickness to the bat, found the barrel with ease and created lift at contact. Katke has room to fill out his 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame and will add more strength as he matures.
 

Another standout for the Motor City Hit Dogs National was 5-foot-10, 172-pound Carson Liedel (2026, Monroe, Mich.) The right-handed hitter would collect two hits on the day and two stolen bases. Hitting in the three-hole, he showed aggression to his pull side with solid contact out front. He would hit two rockets that came off the bat with some authority. Liedel, who was a 2021 12U Select Festival Player, also showed off his defensive skills in center field. He displayed good range, a strong arm and made an outstanding diving play in shallow right-center field to save a run. Liedel is also ranked as the No. 19 right-handed pitcher in the 2026 class.
