Owen Simmons (2023, Greensboro, N.C.) is an uncommitted right-handed pitcher who took the ball for the NCBA Golden Spikes in the opening game of the tournament. He got into a jam early in the game allowing three straight hits in the top of the second inning. With bases loaded and no outs, he was climbing an uphill battle, but proceeded to strike out the next batter and close out the inning allowing no runs. Simmons has a quick up-tempo delivery to the plate as he keeps the ball down in the zone with his fastball topping 85 mph and mixes in a change-of-pace breaking ball, which keeps the hitters off-balance. Simmons went four innings with seven strikeouts.
