Sophomore Coastal Fall Scout Notes: Day 3

Sophomore Coastal Fall Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Cole Green (2024, Indian Trail, N.C.) looked good in the starting role on the mound for the Dirtbags 16u Camo.  Listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he carries himself in a very athletic manner, is light on his feet and moves well both on the mound and handles the stick at the plate.  In his 2 innings of work, he only needed 27 pitches (70% strikes) to get six outs and while there was some traffic, he showed the ability to make high leverage pitches when necessary.  Allowing only 1 hit, no runs, no free passes and gathering 1 strikeout, the uncommitted Green looks like a potential two-way player.   He has a fluid delivery, uses a compact arm circle, and loads his arm very well at foot strike.  There is quickness to the arm, and he sat 80-84 with the fastball, seeing it peak several times at 86 mph. He spun the breaking ball well, landed it for strikes consistently and it was typically in the upper-60s.  While the breaker may not be a power pitch just based on velocity, it did have continual break and was difficult to square up.  Green did go 1-for-2 with a run scored today as well and it is going to be fun to watch moving forward.
