Zachary Root (2022, Fort Myers, Fla.) got the start during Fury’s opening game on Friday night and though it was a brief outing, Root was in total control from start to finish. He needed just 28 pitches to set down each hitter he faced via the strikeout as he pounded the zone and missed a lot of bats. Root has a deceptive operation with a very high leg lift and hides the ball.

The fastball topped out at 91 mph and sat in the 87-90 mph range with a fair bit of arm side run and life. He showed both a curveball and a slider with the latter showing a bit better bite than the curve while the changeup showed its typical excellent fading action. Root returned later in the tournament for another dominant showing as the left-hander has the stuff and poise to compete at the next level.

Kyle Krause (2026, Mars, Pa.) had the best statistical performance of the event with a six inning effort that saw him strike out nine hitters and allow no earned runs in the playoffs. Krause checks a lot of boxes for a young arm with a frame already close to 6-foot along with a clean operation and arm action. He really follows through well with requisite arm quickness and the fastball was up to 82 mph and sat right around 80 mph for the most part. The feel for the breaking ball is good too with sharp downward bite and there are a lot of solid elements here to like moving forward.
