Oregon State commit Scott Northrop (2023, Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) got off to a hot start at the plate as he flashed juice to the gaps with some pull-side pop at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two hard hit RBI doubles in game one of pool play for the 16u Northeast World Series. With an ambush approach at the plate, both of Northrop’s doubles came on the first pitch he saw of the at-bat. A quick, compact stroke that works directly to the point of contact, Northrop gets the bat head out to the ball really well. Present quickness in his hands with strength throughout his frame, Northrop displayed high bat-to-ball skills with hitterish tendencies that project well as he continues to mature.
