First baseman Izayah Mercedes (2025, Brooklyn, N.Y.) continued to show his raw power potential at the plate Saturday, putting together a 2-for-3 day with a run scored and an RBI in a win against Team Beast 13U Red. The strong, broad-framed Mercedes displayed an extremely compact swing with tight hands inside the baseball, consistently pulling balls down the left field line. He created tons of rotation with the lower half and used a simple loading mechanic to turn on baseballs quickly. The 2025 grad will only continue to develop and add further power production to his game.
