Day 1

RHP/1B Vaughn Neckar (2025, Murrieta, Calif.) did a little bit of everything on a big first day of the Ultimate Baseball Championships, showing the strength in the bat and the arm to be seen as a two-way player to follow. Showed his patience and strong knowledge of the zone in his two at-bats by working the count and knowing he could do damage even when behind in the count. During the first at-bat he deposited a mistake fastball up in the zone over the left field fence, tying the game for the San Diego Show. The second at-bat saw Neckar again fall behind but battled off some good pitches before driving a ball to the bottom of the center field wall and breaking open the game. On the hill, Neckar closed the game with two scoreless innings striking out three, walking one and giving up one hit. The compact three-quarter arm is strong allowing Neckar to work with easy actions while utilizing a frame that shows current strength with space for him to keep filling in as he matures. Neckar pounded the zone with his fastball (83-86, T87) and the late-sweeping slider (70-72 mph) has good shape to make more jumps. Neckar is currently uncommitted and the 24th-ranked player in the 2025 class.
