Drake Flower (2022, Wayne, N.J.) got the weekend rolling for Wladyka Baseball, only surrendering one run over four innings. The uncommitted, extra-large right-hander improved throughout his start, with proof in the radar gun as he ticked up 83-85 in the 3rd and 4th innings, snatching an 87 towards the end of the inning. Coming from an over-the-top arm slot, Flower uses his long limbs to create downhill action on his fastball. Moving his fastball around to all four quadrants of the strike zone, Flower was able to miss barrels and generate soft contact throughout the game. Showing feel for an 11-5 shaped breaking ball, Flower’s command of his breaker improved and shows signs of being an effective out pitch at the next level.
