Finishing the season out as the national champions are the Mississippi State Bulldogs, as they downed Vanderbilt in the best-of-three series to claim the CWS title. Celebrations have already occurred in Starkville as the program was able to notch the first national championship for the university, and it was certainly hard fought. The rest of the rankings are most of what you would expect, with the Omaha and Super Regional teams all being included. Of those, the new entries include the Omaha-bound Virginia Cavaliers at No. 6, along with Super Regional participants Dallas Baptist, Louisiana State, and South Florida at Nos. 13, 15, and 16, respectively. It was a terrific year in college baseball and the final run up to the title was as fun as could be expected. Tune in throughout the summer as we’ll have summer league coverage abound, highlighted by a ton of live looks at the prestigious Cape Cod League throughout the next few months.
