Nate Hawton-Henley (2025, Fairfax, Va.) was mighty impressive in my first look at the young prospect, as he impacted the game on both sides of the ball and showcased interesting two-way talent for his Nova Vipers squad. The young 2025 grad has been off to a hot start in 2021, as he has garnered two tournament Most Valuable Player awards during PG Coastal events already this season. The athletically-built primary middle infielder has fluidity to his actions in the dirt with lateral agility to both sides and enough arm to stick there presently, as he made some tough plays look rather easy. Hawton-Henley exhibited some of the smoother transitions I have seen from someone his age, fielding out in front cleanly and getting rid of the ball quickly to produce accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, he implores a simple setup at the plate with minimal wasted movements, compact bat speed and extreme feel for his barrel. The Fairfax, Va. native hit .778 (7-for-9) on the weekend with numerous extra-base hits (including a home run) and seven stolen bases to lead his team to a third place finish in the event that took place in South Jersey this past weekend. The last component of Henley’s intrigue when it comes to his versatility and projection was his appearance on the mound, where he worked his fastball up to 82 mph and punched out 10 hitters in his 5 2/3 innings. As stated above, Hawton-Henley was thoroughly impressive in all facets of his game throughout the weekend and will only further his expansive skill set as he physically matures.
