PG Development+ App Now Available

Photo: Perfect Game
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Today, Perfect Game Founder and President, Jerry Ford, announced that moving forward the organization’s popular app- based mobile training tool, PG Development+ will be available for free in the App Store and Google Play.

“We don’t want the lack of financial resources to stand between a young athlete and access to PG Development+, so we decided to provide free access to its latest version,” stated Ford. “The pandemic redefined how athletes train to excel, as group training diminished and, in some cases, simply is not an option. The PG Development+ app helps players continue to improve on an individual basis by using personal and performance information, the latest training methods from industry professionals and revolutionary technology powered by our partner Re-Play, to deliver a comprehensive and customized physical training and nutrition program every day.”

Alan Discount, founder of Re-Play Athletics and architect of the PG Development+ app said, “Perfect Game has spent over 20 years helping athletes achieve their dreams. As the world’s largest scouting organization, athletes who play at Perfect Game events receive the visibility needed to win spots on teams, earn college scholarships, and get drafted professionally. But in our ever-changing world, the need for technology like ours has become increasingly important, if not a mandatory component, to help each user make the most of those opportunities.”

“Even though Perfect Game has been providing best-in-class programs to youth baseball and softball players for decades, we still feel like our business is in its infancy,” said Perfect Game CEO, Brad Clement. “While our core showcase and tournament businesses have helped tens of thousands of athletes achieve their dreams, we believe these new digital tools speak directly to today’s young athletes and their preferences to engage in content. We’re confident PG Development+ will greatly enhance our ability to help an even larger population of young athletes - and that is why we do what we do in the first place.”

The PG Development+ app is available for both Apple and Android devices. It is designed to quickly assess each athlete, ages 7 – 20, and their current abilities using their personal and performance data. The app then defines key development areas, and serves up personalized daily training programs, nutrition plans, and virtually everything needed to support the athlete and fuel their passion for the sport.

Athletes can view their progress as the app monitors their results and projects their future abilities as well. In short, PG Development+ simulates working with a team of highly-trained and experienced professional coaches, trainers, sports therapists, nutritionists and others.

Additional features of the PG Development+ app include:

    - The industry’s largest baseball Resource Guide, featuring educational information

    - Guide to baseball-related products and services

    - Access to the latest baseball news

    - Health and safety tips

“We have included something for athletes of all ages, including information about playing at different levels of the game - high school, youth programs, college baseball programs, professional – and important topics such as arm care and safety, academics and tutoring, baseball technology, scouting, recruiting and even deals on family travel, dining, entertainment and more,” said Ford.

Discount added, “The Resource Guide is unique because it serves up information dynamically that specifically aligns with each athlete’s personal interests and needs. So, not only have we aggregated everything baseball related into the app, the content delivery system is intelligent, too. Our app is a one-stop-shop that engages users who spend hours daily using it for training, learning, planning, shopping, entertainment, socializing and more.”

To download the free app, visit the App Store or Google Play and search for "PG Development+" or learn more by clicking here.

PG Salutes Chet Brewer, a Youth Baseball Pillar

PG Salutes Chet Brewer, a Youth Baseball Pillar A few weeks ago, Perfect Game and its Believe in Baseball foundation held a fundraising event in Los Angeles. The “In the Spirit of the Game” dinner and auction brought in thousands of dollars, all of which will go toward providing deserving youngsters an opportunity to play and grow in the game. Chet Brewer was not at the event – the former Negro Leagues star died at age 83 in 1990 – but his spirit was. Big time. “That night was all about Chet,” PG commissioner Dennis Gilbert said. “He was all about giving kids chances to play the game, especially kids from underprivileged backgrounds. “When you’re 15, 16, 17 years old – those years are the basis of your life. Chet helped put a lot of kids on the right path through the game of baseball.” Brewer’s impactful life has...

March 10 Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Lorenzo Carrier, OF, Pitt  The Pitt Panthers (12-2) are off to one of the best starts in recent program history and their offense has performed as one of the best in the country.  For the season, they are averaging almost 12-runs per game and on their recent trip to the West Coast, Lorenzo Carrier went on the kind of hot streak that is hard to comprehend.  The 6-5/215 senior from Bear, DE was a one-man wrecking crew in their 4-wins last week, starting with the fact that he reached base safely in 17 of his 19 trips to the plate.  He collected 13 hits in 14 official at-bats, scoring 10 runs, with 4 walks, 2 triples, 4 home runs and he drove in an insane 19-runs.  Carrier has refined his approach, simplified his bat path and is creating massive power that has him putting up career numbers.  For the season, he is...

Collegiate Player Report Database While there will not be any new faces in this weeks Top 25, there is quite a bit of shakeup as the season, somehow, becomes even more unpredictable.  There were several teams in the poll that dropped weekend series and, in some cases, registered losing records in the last seven days.  There is sure to be more chaos this week as virtually every conference starts league play and the race for regular season titles begins.  The UCLA Bruins (13-2) remain No. 1 as their sizzling hot bats led the way to a perfect (4-0) week and they swept their first Big Ten series of the year.  As one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the nation, the Texas Longhorns (15-0) jump to No. 2 before they open SEC play this weekend in Austin.  No. 3 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Mississippi State both (14-2) hold their spots in the poll after both dropped a...

March 3 Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Cider Canon, OF, Duke  The Duke Blue Devils (11-3) went through massive changes in the offseason, with a new coaching staff and heavy roster turnover like is often seen in the college game today.  That hasn’t held them back as they have kind of flown under the radar on their way to a tie for the most wins in the nation.  They won 4 out 5 games last week and Cider Canon was the driving force behind their offensive onslaught.  The 5-11/180 outfielder from San Marino, CA put together an incredible week collecting 9 hits in 14 at-bats, good for a .643 BA, scoring 7 runs, with 3 walks, 4 home runs and driving in a total of 10 runs.  After a successful couple years at Davidson College, Cider made the trip north to Durham and has fit right into the Blue Devil’s high-octane offense.  For the season, he is...
