With the changing of the recruiting landscape that was presented in 2020, Perfect Game wants to continue our efforts to provide a spotlight and platform for uncommitted players to showcase their talents. The WWBA World Championship is often a time where schools are able to find some late additions to their classes, discover a pop up prospect, or even add to a future class as there's a bevy of uncommitted underclass talent in attendance as well. 

On top of looking at the players mentioned below, Perfect Game scouts will continue to highlight uncommitted prospects throughout the WWBA World Championship, providing a daily notebook full of notes focusing solely on players who are still looking for a school at the next level. 

Along with a brief write up, each player's Perfect Game ranking is listed as well as the team each player is rostered on, complete with a hyperlink to their schedule and roster.


AJ Smith-Shawver, 3b/rhp, Colleyville, TX
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 96
Stix Baseball 2021

Smith-Shawver is a right-handed pitcher that can run his fastball to the mid-90s and the breaking ball continues to get better. He is a three-star quarterback and splits time with football, so he is still honing his craft on the mound. This is the most talented arm talent remaining on the uncommitted board.

Matthew Polk, ss/of, Long Beach, CA

GBG Navy 2021

The uncommitted California native absolutely raked this summer to a tune of .431 while hitting in the middle of a loaded lineup. This is just a hit tool type player as his 1.354 OPS proves the type of balance he has in his game. Polk can play all over the diamond but it’s the bat that is ready to play immediately at the next level.

Brady Jones, ss/rhp, Covington, GA
Class of 2022 | PG Rank: 173
Team Elite National

Arm strength is a big weapon for the uncommitted Jones as he threw an impressive 95 mph across the diamond during the PG Underclass All-American Games and has also been up to 90 mph on the mound. He's also a 6.7 runner with athleticism and strength in his hands at the plate, providing two-way potential at the next level with another two years of growth until graduation. 

Keegan Allen, rhp, Rogers, AR
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 184 
Rawlings National ST/Sticks Baseball

Allen is a low-90s righty with a solid four-pitch arsenal and there's some twitch to his body as he runs a 6.89 in the 60-yard dash. He strikes out well over a batter per inning to demonstrate his swing and miss capabilities. As his body fills out there should be continued bumps to the velocity as well as his ability to repeat the twitch.


Sean Smith, 1b, Pascagoula, MS
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 217
East Coast Sox 2021 Founders Club

A consistent performer, Smith is well-known for his power profile on the national circuit. The ability to hit high-level pitching though was at the forefront all summer. He is tapping into his offensive potential seemingly daily and there are obvious reasons he should be one of the most watched uncommitted bats during the WWBA.

Wilson Woodcox, rhp, Houston Texas
Class of 2022 | PG Rank: 224
Banditos Scout Team 2021

Woodcox is one of just four 2022 graduates on a talented Banditos Scout Team roster and the uncommitted right-hander is coming off a big performance at the WWBA Underclass in which he struck out 12 in just 4.2 innings of work. Listed at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Woodcox has consistently worked in the upper-80s with his fastball, peaking at 92 mph this summer, while showing a quality secondary pitch in his breaking ball. 

Marcus Franco, 1b Miramar, FL
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 275
Miami PG Columbia Blue

Franco is an amazingly strong 6-foot-4, 230  pound framed right-handed hitter. Run production has never been an issue for the first baseman as he has natural lift and power to all fields. He has a knack for hitting velocity as well as working deep in counts without expanding the zone.

Jquann Smith (2021 Statesboro, GA)

Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team

Smith is no doubt the best runner with the most disruptive top of the lineup potential left on the market. The 6.20 sixty yard dash that Smith runs says a lot, but his ability to use it on the bases is a sight to see. The left-handed barrel started spraying balls around the yard more consistently this summer and the added repetitions are bringing results.

Hector G. Nieves, ss, Mayaguez, PR
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 384
Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team

Nieves has big actions at shortstop and his 88 mph arm strength gives him plenty to make all the plays on the left side. The fluid left-handed stroke will be monitored closely but it has all the ingredients to pop. The hands and actions on the infield should give him a leg up when it comes to playing early in college, however.


Christian Bautista, 1b, Lyndhurst, NJ
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 401
PG Navy Select

Bautista, a New Jersey native, has a strong 6-foot-2, 225 pound frame and is young for the grade. He really burst on the scene at the PG 2020 Fall East Coast Showcase hitting majestic homeruns during batting practice and following it with a no doubter during game play. This will be fun to watch as he competes against the best players in the country at his first Perfect Game tournament.


Patrick Steitz, rhp Peoria, AZ
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 424
AZ D-Backs Scout Team
A tall, 6-foot-8 and uber-projectable right-handed pitcher, Steitz is coming off a loud performance earlier this fall where he sat 87-90 mph with his fastball with elite plane on the pitch while throwing a harder curveball than seen before. The eight strikeouts over his four innings of work should give him plenty of confidence to come and compete here in Fort Myers at the WWBA.

Adriel Calderon, c, Cidra, PR
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 429
Team Mizuno Puerto Rico

Calderon is a very athletic catcher with huge peripheral tools. A 6.89 runner in the sixty yard dash to go along with his 1.85 pop-time behind the plate puts him in exclusive company. There is strength in the left-handed swing that you can dream on future power as he develops in game.


Traton Staheli, rhp, Washington, UT 
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 440
Ohio Warhawks
The right-hander out of Utah is another arm who has to be watched closely this weekend as he is coming off a huge performance at the PG Fall National Championship where he had three consistent relief appearances, running his fastball up to 92 mph and mixing up SL/CU as secondaries. The 6-foot-5, 185 pound frame has tons of projection left to build.

Mason Janz, of/in, rhp Palmetto, FL
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 441
SWFL Nation 2021

Janz was a consistent force this summer in the lineup and in relief on the bump. He hit .327 with twelve extra base hits on the showcase circuit and also sports a 90 mph fastball that helped him strikeout almost two batters per inning. He also runs a 6.72 in the sixty yard dash and the overall versatility really stands out.

Carter Allen, c/3b, Manvel, TX
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 448
Premier Baseball Scout Team

Allen has a big power potential to go along with his accurate barrel. The strength of his core helps the present pull power that continues to show up in games. If he can prove he can lead a staff behind the dish and the extra base hits show up at the WWBA, the Texan should have plenty of options soon.

Carter Wright, c, Blairsville, GA
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 458
East Coast Sox 2021 Founders Club

Wright has current strength that he uses his swing well. He hit .353 this summer with plenty of potential to have the power show up consistently in the future. There is quickness to the exchange behind the plate and arm strength/accuracy helped generate a 1.82 pop time during drills. The power arm/power bat make him a hot commodity this late in the process for a school looking for a backstop.

Angel Lopez, lhp, Montverde, FL
Class of 2021 | PG Rank: 490
Brewers Langley Blaze

Lopez has a quick left-handed shoulder that allows him to sit in the low-90s with his fastball. The development with his pitch quality has gotten better and he is getting confident with his off speed offerings. The athleticism and fluidity make it very encouraging that we will continue to see jumps moving forward.

Christian Febus Rodriguez, ss, Salinas, PR

Miami PG Columbia Blue

A 6-foot-2 shortstop out of Puerto Rico, Christian Febus Rodriguez showed solid skill on both sides of the ball during the WWBA Workout Showcase and looks to ride that momentum into the tournament. His hands are soft and they play well out front, as does his arm strength for the left side, though it's his right-handed swing and the power potential that really stood out as he connected for multiple home runs to his pull side in batting practice. 

Connor Lee, rhp, Manvel, TX

Hunter Pence Baseball Academy
The right-handed Lee is getting the ball game one for Hunter Pence Baseball Academy which speaks to his abilities on the mound. Consistently up to 89 mph with his fastball throughout the summer, Lee has struck out 22 this summer in 15.1 innings of work, showing a quick right arm with solid running life to his arm side. He works from a higher release point and does a nice job of getting on top of his fastball as well as his curveball, an 11-5 shaped pitch in the low-70s that he shows comfort landing for strikes. 


Keagan Perez, rhp, Casselberry, FL

FTB/Giants Scout Team 2021

Perez has a great 6-foot-3, 160 pound frame to build on with a loose and whippy arm that has a big jump in it. There are outings that the righty shows real command with three pitches and he can manipulate the ball in both directions to create huge movement. Both the curveball and changeup bring swing and miss characteristics.

Richmond Braves 2021 Platinum

The athletically built 6-foot-1, 190 pound Brown has the skillset to impact a program in a variety of ways, from his fastball on the mound that has recently topped out at 90 mph to his 6.64 speed he showed at the Coastal Prospect Showcase. A primary arm, Brown shows big arm speed through the back and generates hard running life to the pitch while mixing a sweeping breaking ball for strikes. His right-handed swing also offers present fluidity through the zone and the ability to generate nice backspin to his pull side with carry. 

Kyle Ayers, rhp, Sherman Oaks, Calif.

GBG Navy 2021

Ayers attended the PG National Showcase and continued to pitch well during the Fall National Championship, punching out 5 in just two innings of work. Up to 91 mph with his fastball, the 6-foot-1 Ayers works with a compact and quick arm action while living around the zone with a short slider that shows downer shape when on top of the ball. 

Aidan Corn, 3b, Nokomis, FL

Florida Burn 2021 National

Corn has been a fixture in the middle of the lineup for one of the best high schools in Florida and one of the top travel teams in the country. The strong right-handed hitter is as steady as they come, hitting .340 this summer and the innate ability to drive in runs in big spots. There is polish in the approach and he has a winning mentality.

Joseph Volini, lhp, Tampa, FL

Hit Factory Pro

The left-handed Volini has really come on strong this fall with a couple monster outings. He has a pretty clean operation for a wide 6-foot-4, 230 pound frame that is still filling out, and the lefty brings solid arm speed for a big man. He runs the heater up to 88 mph and the southpaws ability to land the off speed has helped the swing and miss numbers he is beginning to collect.


Sammy Contacos, c, Irwin, PA

Scorpions Marucci Franchise Team
Contacos continues to improve his game each time we see him, most recently popping a 1.88 during the WWBA Workout Showcase and he has shown solid skills behind the plate in game action too with a strong throwing arm. He's physically built at 6-foot-1, 204 pounds and he knows how to utilize that strength in his right-handed swing with solid bat speed and nice carry to the pull side. Gearing up for the Scorps, he's sure to receive some quality arms during the WWBA World Championship. 


Charlie Condon, 1b/3b, Marietta, GA

643 DP Cougars 18u  

Condon had a huge summer that has continued into the fall. In his most recent event this fall he hit .375 with a home run. This adds to his 2020 totals of .381 with nineteen extra base hits with six of those being homers. The 6-foot-5, 200 pound frame still has plenty of room to fill out and he is young for the 2021 grade year. This is a huge addition to any recruiting class.

Nathan Norwood, rhp, Tarpon Springs, FL

Brewers Langley Blaze

Slated to start the first exhibition game for the Brewers Langley Blaze club Thursday afternoon, Norwood will get his feet wet at the World Championship as a 2022 grab though his performance this summer is more than noteworthy. Athletically built at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds Norwood shows plenty of arm quickness already with a fastball that works into the upper-80s, a pitch he can miss bats with as evidenced by his 41 strikeouts in 32.1 innings to just six walks. Along with the fastball Norwood shows a hard diving changeup and a tighter breaking ball for a complete three pitch mix while still providing ample physical projection with the profile down the road. 

Cole Munhall, rhp, Cumming, GA

Mets Scout Team/Georgia Bombers

Munhall recently impressed during the WWBA Underclass Championship and the young two-way talent looks to ride that momentum into the World Championship while playing up a grade. A primary right-handed arm, Munhall was up to 90 mph with his fastball last week, showing the ability to miss bats up in the zone while generally working around the zone with a quick right arm. His sharp, downward biting curveball in the mid-70s is a difference maker for him and he'll be an arm to lock in on as he takes the mound Thursday night for the Mets Scout Team/Georgia Bombers in relief. 

Isaiah Barkett, if/of, Oviedo, FL

Power Baseball 2021
Barkett is coming on strong as he is adding strength to his 5-foot-10, 165 pound frame. He has a quick bat with length through contact and conveys a different type of toughness to the lineup. He is an infielder, but definitely has the type of athleticism to bring real versatility on the defensive side of the ball.

Another week of Perfect Game baseball concluded as champions were crowned in the 15U, 16U, and 18U divisions of the Southwest Select Championship. After several days of pool play and championship bracket action, three teams rose above the competition to capture tournament titles following a week of high-level baseball. Throughout the tournament, teams from across the Southwest and beyond competed in closely contested matchups, producing standout pitching performances, timely offense, and memorable defensive plays. Ranked fifth nationally entering the tournament, Florida Burn 2027 Scout left no doubt who the best team was at the 17U BCS National Championship. Burn finished a perfect 9-0 tournament, earning an 11-1 semifinal victory before defeating No. 86-ranked Original Florida Pokers 2027 National, 9-1, Tuesday afternoon at JetBlue Park. Burn seized control early and never looked back in a game that ended after the fifth inning per Perfect Game’s mercy rule. Burn carried its explosive offense into the championship game as Braedon Mackay launched a two-run home run in the first inning, giving his team an early 2-0 lead. Mackay’s home run sparked a five-run opening inning, setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon. With the completion of the 2026 13u National Showcase, an event that featured some of the best talent the age group has to offer, 42 players came out with the label of "Festivaler" as they received a phone call shortly after the event concluded. Moving back to the University of Tennessee after a two year stay at the University of Virginia, Ole Rocky Top will see a mixed bag of returners; three-timers, new faces and a couple who bridged the gap from the 11u game into the 13u iteration.  Of the 42 players, 9 players call Florida their home base which is the most of any state while Texas (8), California (7) and Georgia (5) are all close behind nearly three-quarters of the players selected. Jack Postma (2028, Barrington, IL) made an impression in Chicago this week. A 6-foot-5 right hander with a starter pitch mix. Topped out at 93 in his outing at UBC Midwest and pitched at 88-93 for 2 innings on the mound. Slider showed late horizontal bite at its best when finished out front. 15u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 Mason Conner (2029, Palestine, Texas) was a force in the middle-of-the-order for Gold Culture. The right-handed hitter starts from a medium stance with in-line feet and a low handset with a low back elbow, utilizes a negative leg lift stride. Strides through and uncoils the lower half well and creates separation in the back shoulder. Solid hand speed with a flat bat plane and feel to leverage and lift. Impacts the ball well with feel to impact and drive. The shortstop showed the power upside belting a two-run homer over the fence in left field and added a two-RBI knock later in the game. The 21st annual 16U BCS National Championship returns to Fort Myers, Florida from July 23-27, bringing together many of the nation’s top 2028 graduates. The tournament features 44 teams, including six nationally ranked clubs, competing for a national title across five days of high-level competition. Year after year, the event has served as a proving ground for elite talent. Defending champion Showtime Select National 16U returns after capturing last year’s championship, while a talented field from across the country will look to add its name to the event’s prestigious history. The amateur players in the Cape Cod Baseball League are the future stars of the 2027 MLB Draft. The league runs from June 13th through August 2nd. Games are played at historic stadiums in Old New England towns. It’s beautiful and charming. Hollywood even made a movie about the Cape Cod League ~25 years ago called Summer Catch. It scored an 8% (!) on Rotten Tomatoes, but, on the plus side, it featured 2001 Jessica Biel in a starring role.  It was so much fun writing Coppy’s Column this spring. My hope is to highlight a pitcher and position player each week from the Cape. FTB National Completes Elite Run

Championships are never won in a single game. For FTB National 2027, this one has been in the making for years. An 8-0 victory over Team Elite 17U Scout capped off an unforgettable week at the 2026 Perfect Game 17U National Elite Championship, but according to those inside the dugout, the championship was a product of friendships formed long before the tournament ever began. FTB took their first national elite win in team history, giving one of the nation’s top 2027 teams an elite ending to their 17U summer. “This is a homegrown group,” head coach Will Haynie said. “This team has been together for the last four or five years, and I think a lot of them have been together since the Little League World Series when they were 12.
