Coastal Fall Championship Scout Notes: Day 3

Todd Coffey
Coastal Fall Championship Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2

In the quarterfinal game, the Tri-State Arsenals 2020 Scout team had an extremely talented roster that was firing on all cylinders in this game, including Cole Harding pitching a no-hitter along while the entire team was slugging the ball. Connor Brizendine and Oliver Zohn set the tone and carried this team to an easy victory.

Cole Harding (Wake Forest, NC 2021) started the game off by striking out the first batter of the game on three pitches and never looked back. The uncommitted right handed pitcher made it look easy in the quarterfinal game by only throwing one slider the entire game and utilizing his fastball to get weak contact. The end result: a no-hitter. In the top of the fifth inning, Harding got into a jam with runners on second and third and no outs, but got a double play and struck out the last batter to end the inning.

Connor Brizendine (Christiansburg, VA 2021) was seeing the ball great today and set the table for his team to make it to the next round. The uncommitted outfielder got two solid hits in his last two at bats and later scored on both. Brizendine was a spark for his team as he got them going all game and finished going two for three with two runs scored.

Oliver Zohn (Raleigh, NC 2021) was slugging the ball all game. The Lander commit came up big in the bottom of the third smashing a double down the left field line and scored two. Zohn has a lot of power in has swing, which clearly showed in today’s game.

The championship game between the Stars Baseball 2021 and the MVP Royals National 2021 was quite a thrill to watch. The Stars were just too much for the MVP to handle as they won the Championship behind the performance of starting pitchers Evan Hamill and Ryan Cuadros.

Evan Hamill (Stafford, VA 2021) started off in the championship game and was virtually unhittable. The Navy commit is a right handed pitcher who was in cruise control all game. Hamill was moving his fastball on both sides of the plate and kept the hitters guessing all game, finishing his five innings with six strikeouts and topped 87 mph.

Ryan Cuadros (Springfield, VA 2021) got it done off the mound and at the plate today. The uncommitted right handed pitcher and outfielder came through in the third inning as he crushed a fly ball over the centerfielder’s head for a triple and scored two runs. Cuadros came in to close out the game by pitching the last two innings, which ended with no hits and three strikeouts to secure the championship win for his team.
