Tate McGuire, rhp, Class of 2023
Commitment: Arkansas

For anybody who has seen 2023 righthander Tate McGuire throw, it’ll come as little to no surprise that the fastball continues to trend upward and it’s scary to think he still hasn’t come close to reaching his long term potential. Well built at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds, there’s obvious physical projection with the newly commitment Razorback though you don’t have to look too hard to envision what he’ll develop into. Despite just finishing his freshman year, McGuire already sits in the mid- to upper-80s with his fastball, displaying a quick arm and solid command to either side of the plate while mixing a low-70s breaker for strikes. His present arsenal and feel, which combined with the projection, make McGuire an intriguing arm in the 2023 class and one that Arkansas fans can look forward to seeing in a few years.

Outlook for the class: The 2023 class is quickly shaping up for Arkansas as McGuire marks commitment No. 7 of the group and all seven of the commits fall within Perfect Game’s top 300. While it’s still early in the recruiting process as the ’23 class still has another three years before reaching campus, pitching has been the main focal point thus far with five primary righthanders now committed and a lefthander in Hayden Thomas. McGuire is currently ranked No. 137 in the country, second highest of the Arkansas class, and joins Riley Henfling as the second Missouri native in the group as well.
