Northeast World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

Recent University of Pittsburgh commit Sam Falace (2022, Niskayuna, NY) got the start for Allstars Academy Elite 15U in Game One of pool play this morning at the 16U Northeast World Series. Falace was in command for the entirety of his four-and-two thirds innings, scattering three hits and punching out ten Elite Squad NY hitters. The strongly built lefthander works quickly and efficiently from an over-the-top slot with athletic movements into and through his delivery. The fastball worked in the low to mid 80's, topping out at 85 mph in this look with the usual natural arm-side run we have seen in previous outings. The New York native repeats his mechanics well, commanding both sides of the plate rather effectively and showing feel for spin with a well-tunneled breaking ball that varies in shape. There is definitive upside there with room to refine his overall arsenal and stick in the previous velocity ranges we have seen prior. Falace has shown a previous high of 89 mph on his fastball.
