Jack Frankel (2024, Plano, Texas) continues to solidify himself as one of the top arms in the 2024 class at this early juncture, delivering another strong performance on the hill for USA Prime. Strongly built at 6-2, 186 pounds, the 13u Select Festival alum tossed three solid innings of baseball, working around some weak contact scattered throughout while filling the strike zone with a repertoire you don’t regularly see at this age.

With tempo and rhythm to his delivery, Frankel employs a deeper gather on his backside which he comes off of well to drive down the mound, showing a quick arm which helps generate big velocity rather effortlessly. He works from a higher release point and given the timing of his delivery Frankel worked on top of the ball well, creating short sinking life to his fastball as he sat comfortably in the 85-88 mph. He worked with an attack mode mentality, filling up the zone while showing command to either side of the plate, striking out six while inducing weak contact when put in play. The curveball was the go-to secondary for Frankel, spinning the pitch with conviction in the mid to upper 70s with 12-6 shape, landing the pitch for strikes early in the count while showing the ability to bury and miss bats to finish a hitter.

The feel and ability on the mound certainly stand out and Frankel will be a must-see arm come later in the tournament when he takes the hill once again. And while his future may be brightest on the mound, Frankel also helped his own cause with a couple of hits, including a lofted double to his pull side.
