Firecracker Finale Scout Notes

Ty Floyd (2020, Rockmart, Ga.) and Carter Holton (2021, Guyton, Ga.) combined for a complete game shutout of a Georgia Bombers 17u Gaines team in the quarterfinals of the 18u Firecracker Finale Sunday. Floyd got the start and logged nine strikeouts in his four innings of work, finishing with 52 pitches. The Louisiana State commit has an overpowering, rising heater and sits at 89-93 mph from a low three-quarters arm slot. The pitch tunnels well with a pair of off-speed pitches; a change-up with some tail to it, and a slurvy breaking ball in the mid 70s. The top-ranked right-handed pitcher in his 2020 class was relieved by the highest-rated lefty in the 2021 class, Carter Holton.
