Drew Burress (2023 Perry, Ga.) continues to impress as one of the best leadoff type bats in his class. He sports a compact, athletic build that he puts to good use in all facets of the game. The righthanded hitter has a true feel for the leadoff spot as he battles late into counts and can spray the baseball to all fields on a line. The hand strength is present as he creates easy bat speed. In the clip above, he takes a breaking ball behind in the count and drives it back up the middle to lead the game off with a single. Burress also plays a rangy centerfield. He reads the baseball well off the bat as he tracked down long fly balls to both gaps during the contest today. He is currently uncommitted but look for that to change for the #13 overall ranked prospect in his 2023 class.
