Deep South Louisiana Scout Notes: Day 1

Tyler Russo
With baseball finally making its way back in many locations, a solid group of young, talented uncommitted players made their way out to the beautiful Sterlington Sports Complex in Sterlington, Louisiana for Day 1 of the Deep South Louisiana Wood Championships.

Sam Thomas (2023, Bartlett, Tenn.) had himself a day at the plate on day one as he went two for three with two doubles and drove in three. He looked great in each of his three at bats, two of which went a long way to the pull side, burning the leftfielder with ease. He is a physically advanced outfielder with some big tools already as a sub 7.0 runner, arm strength that has shown up to 87 mph on the mound and from the outfield and in this one-game look yesterday, he showed that he has added a ton of strength and physicality to the offensive profile.
