Preseason JUCO Top 25 | Top 300 JUCO Prospects

Welcome back! It's been about six weeks since we unveiled the preseason Top 50 rankings, and now that the dust has settled, we're back with the Top 25 and will continue with weekly updates until the end of the season. The season is well underway, with many clubs in warm weather states having played 20-plus games already, the Midwestern schools into the teens in some places and pretty much everyone at least having had at least some game play.

Not to bury the lede too much, but we have a new No. 1 this week, with John A. Logan's 16-0 start propelling them up from their No. 9 preseason spot all the way to No. 1 this week. This is no knock on the teams who started the season at the top – no one ranked in the top 10 has gotten off to a bad start – Logan has just been that good so far. McLennan has been a bit uneven to get going, but seem to be finding their stride of late and could easily vault right back as we go along. Wabash Valley sits at No. 2 after a very good start, right on Logan's heels, with that series in May looming as large as it maybe ever has as it sits right now.

No. 3 Grayson looks extremely good right now, they're hitting at a high level and the pitching depth is excellent as they could be the team to beat right now in Texas, which looks as strong overall as it ever has. McLennan finds themselves sliding just a couple spots to No. 4. Iowa Western sits at No. 5 coming off of an outstanding series with Cowley, which the two clubs split 2-2 with the run differential being just a single run. That was certainly a loud early-season series.

Johnson County jumps up to No. 6 on the heels of a 15-1 start with defending champions Central Arizona checking in at No. 7. Northwest Florida State has somewhat quietly gotten off to an impressive 13-3 start and sits at No. 8, as the Panhandle once again looking like it might come down to they and Chipola, who stands at No. 10 this week. LSU-Eunice is sandwiched between them at No. 9 with a 17-0 start and absolute domination on their current resume; they certainly look like the favorites in D-II.

Out in California, it's Sacramento City, Ohlone, and Santa Rosa all off to extremely good starts in NorCal, with San Joaquin Delta hanging around per usual. In SoCal, Long Beach is off to a very hot start as are Santa Ana, Cypress, Riverside and Saddleback. Conference play is just underway so we'll start to see some separation at the top of those respective regions and the conferences therein shortly. The NWAC is really just getting underway so it's too early to really say anything definitive when it comes to the Pacific Northwest schools at this point.

Newcomers to the Top 25 this week include Ohlone at 17-2, Yavapai at 19-2, Santa Rosa at 15-1 and Connors State at 14-2.

It's certainly shaping up to be an incredible year in JUCO baseball, and there has been quite a bit of outstanding play to date, with most of the season still to go. Make sure to check back weekly for the Top 25 which will release every Tuesday from here on out. Also make sure to pay special attention to our JUCO Scouting Notebook features, which are chocked-full of absolutely unrivaled JUCO scouting content from our scouts across the nation.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, March 1.
