Spring League MVPs, MVPitchers

2019 Grads


MVP - Will Kranz (SS, Davenport Central HS) - Kranz lit it up all Spring, hitting for nearly a .600 clip. Kranz is a primary SS and showed fluid footwork defensively as well. Kranz led the entire league in hits, with 13 and in average at .565. Kranz also has shown good discipline at the plate, walking seven times. Kranz has signed his letter of intent to Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.



MVPitcher - Harrison Cook (RHP, Cedar Rapids Prairie HS) - Cook was lights out in the Spring League. Harrison collected 27 strike outs in his twelve innings pitched while only allowing 10 hits and seven walks. Cook features a deadly two pitch mix running his fastball into the low 90s  while consistently pitching off of his sharp 11/5 curve ball. Cook made his first appearance at a PG event in the 2015 National Indoor League.  Harrison will be continuing his career in Lexington, Kentucky as a pitcher for the Kentucky Wildcats.



2020 Grads


MVP - Calvin Harris (C, Western Dubuque HS) - Harris was impressive at the plate and on the mound in the spring league. At the plate, Calvin collected six hits including a double, triple and a loud home run. On the mound, Cal threw five innings while collecting 12 strike outs and only allowing one hit. Calvin is committed to play in the SEC for Ole Miss after his career as a multiple sport standout at Western Dubuque comes to a close after the 2020 school year.



MVPitcher - Logan Smith (RHP, Dallas Center-Grimes Community HS) - Logan Smith threw 11 innings for Iowa Sticks Romanchuk while collecting 17 strike outs and only allowing seven hits and four walks. Smith works from a 3/4 arm slot and provide good deception in his delivery. Smith's fastball worked up to 86 this Spring. Logan will continue his academic and baseball career in Brookings, South Dakota as a Jackrabbit at South Dakota State.



2021 Grads


MVP - Logan Runde (C, Dubuque Hempstead HS) - Runde stood out on both the mound and at the plate this Spring, earning him the MVP award. Large frame that has filled out some and shows present power in the bat and his arm, now up to 87 on his fastball. The primary catcher did a lot of damage at the plate, hitting for an even .400 and driving in 12 runs. Runde will be a fun player to follow as he gets older and continues to gain strength. He is uncommitted.




MVPitcher - Colin Streff (LHP, Linn-Mar HS) - Streff brings home this year's MVPitcher Award for 2021 after a very solid Spring on the mound. Streff was very reliable on the mound, making five appearances and not allowing a single earned run while striking out 27. The lefty was up to 80 on the fastball with a 1/7 curve with plus depth as a complementary pitch. Streff is uncommitted.

2022/23 Grads

MVP - Garrett Kadolph (RHP/1B, Dubuque Wahlert HS) - Kadolph brings home the MVP at the youngest age group after a Spring where he got a hit in 11 of his 13 games played. Kadolph is a large build for his age, sitting at six foot two and 225 pounds and uses his frame well, knocking in 16 RBI and hitting for a .448 average. Kadolph is uncommitted.



MVPitcher - Ashton Westphall (RHP, Bettendorf HS) - Westphall saved his best for his last appearance of the Spring, striking out 11 over seven innings and only allowing a single hit. Westphall had a great Spring overall, striking out 21 over 18 innings and allowing only four earned runs. He also had a solid Spring at the plate, hitting for an average of .389. He is uncommitted.
