2023 Top Prospects

James Hays  RHP - 2023 - Hawkinsville, GA
Georgia

Hays was one of the more talented two-way players in the event as a primary third baseman with a smooth lefthanded swing as well as on the bump topping out at 83 mph with a sharp slider. His hards are loose at the plate creating easy jump and pop to the gaps. The prospect from Georgia hits the baseball out in front and creates some leverage to pull.

Bransen Powell  RHP - 2023 - Locust Grove, GA
Georgia

Powell looked to drive the baseball with bat and throw it with intent as he did just that during the event. The primary third baseman from Locust Grove, Georgia held the top velocity from the outfield as well as across the diamond with a throw of 88 mph and 83 mph respectively. His raw hit tool produced plenty of high exit velocities when on time and turning the barrel over out in front.

Chris Smith  RHP - 2023 - Bartlett, TN
Uncommitted

The top fastball of the event belonged to righthander Chris Smith from Bartlett, Tennessee. Smith topped out at 86 mph and consistently sat in the low- to mid-80s with a tight breaking ball and a deceptive changeup as well. The delivery displays plenty of arm speed as well as the ability to sink the fastball for soft groundball contact or swings-and-misses.

Luke Dotson  LHP - 2023 - Marietta, GA
Mississippi State

The lefthander who made the trip from Florida showed plenty of two-way potential as a lefthanded pitcher up to 79 mph with sinking action and a lefthanded hitting outfielder with the ability to hit the ball to all parts of the field with loose hands. His projectable 6-foot-2 frame and clean delivery projects for more velocity on the mound in due time as well.

Jake Hembree  LHP - 2023 - Hiram, GA
Georgia

Crafty lefty Jake Hembree pitched in his second 14U showcase this season and featured a fastball up to 80 mph and a really sharp breaking ball. His advanced feel to spin is very impressive and so is his delivery creating a tough angle for hitters to square up the baseball. He also swung the bat very well in game squaring up the baseball to all parts of the field.

Robbie DuVall  C - 2023 - Lawrenceville, GA
Uncommitted

Duvall put on a very impressive display with his lefthanded swing both in game as well as during batting practice. Duvall is a physically advanced 2023 grad who plays primarily behind the plate. His lefthanded swing creates plenty of strength and juice as well as leverage when pulling the baseball.

Isaac Armstrong  SS - 2023 - Denver, NC
East Carolina

Armstrong was the fastest player in attendance at the 2019 14U Southeast Showcase running the 60 in 6.87 seconds and had some of the better arm strength across the infield topping out at 78 mph. His tools at the plate were impressive as well displaying a quick bat and a line drive swing plane.

Sam Thomas  OF - 2023 - Bartlett, TN
Delta State

Thomas featured intriguing tools in all areas of his game with a 60 time of 6.94 seconds, quick-twitch actions that play well in the outfield and produced 84 mph outfield velocity as well as a low-80s fastball on the mound from a loose arm action. Thomas is an athletic 5-foot-11 prospect with plenty of projectability and quickness that plays very well in game.

Drew Kennedy  1B - 2023 - Malvern, PA
Tampa

Kennedy's bat really stood out at this weekend's event. The lefthanded hitting first baseman swings with intent to drive the ball to his pull side with the capability of doing so. His strong frame produces strength at the point of impact and loud contact when on time.

Garrett Garner  OF - 2023 - Lavonia, GA
Uncommitted

Garrett Garner is another player whose actions in the outfield and righthanded swing was showcased well at the event combined with a projectable frame at 6-foot-1. Garner is athletic in the outfield with a loose arm and an 81 mph best throw and displayed a really nice feel for the barrel working through a line drive swing plane at the plate.
