Tanner Bibee, Cal State Fullerton
After being rather under-the-radar coming out of high school (although he did have some helium leading up to the 2017 MLB Draft), Bibee has established himself as a very good Friday ace for the Titans. He has a solid build at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds with a strong lower half that he uses effectively to drive off the mound. Bibee works from the third base side of the rubber with a bit of a mechanical delivery that includes multiple checkpoints that he repeats well. He jumps in to a long stride directed at righthanded hitters.

In this game, a 4-3 loss to visiting Stanford, Bibee worked efficiently early in the outing working primarily off a 90-92 mph fastball that he spotted well to both halves of the plate. That pitch set up his hammer curveball thrown at 77-80 mph with great depth. He mixed in a few changeups at 78-80 that looked to have slight cut and sink and was cruising until the sixth inning when Stanford started to get to him, plating a pair of runs. By then Bibee seemed to get a bit over extended and ended up giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks over 7 2/3 innings, although he did strike out nine despite picking up his first loss of the year.
