Top 5 Prospects

1. Justin Fall, lhp, Ocean (Brookdale CC/SO in 2019)
There’s a lot to like about 6-foot-6, 220-pound lefthander Justin Fall, who quickly passes the eye test when he steps on the mound and checks more boxes thanks to his 90-93 mph fastball. He uses his size well to throw on a downhill plane, and mixes in a developing curveball and changeup. He went 7-2 with a 5.74 ERA during the spring at Brookdale CC, striking out 72 in 64 1/3 innings, and while he only walked 26 batters, he did allow 77 base hits. Fall proved to be more unhittable over the summer as he sequenced well between his three pitches, posting a 35-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 20 innings of work, leading to a 0.90 ERA.

2. Nick Snyder, lhp, Trenton (West Virginia/JR in 2019)
Similar to Fall, Snyder is a well-built and athletic lefthander, checking in at 6-foot-7, 220-pounds, with the ability to generate swing-and-miss stuff. He struck out 47 batters in 28 1/3 innings of work this summer thanks to an upper-80s fastball that peaks around 92 mph and a hard mid-70s curveball that is his put-away pitch. Command is an issue, as he walked 22 batters this summer after walking 13 in just four innings of work as a sophomore at West Virginia. How much his command progresses will dictate his ceiling, but at the very least he could excel as a lefthanded specialist with two solid pitches.

3. Shayne Fontana, of, Allentown (Lynn/SR in 2019)
Fontana did pretty much everything for Allentown this past summer, leading the league in RBI (26) and runs (31) while hitting .359 with six home runs, and he was a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen base attempts on his way to being named the league’s Most Valuable Player. At 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, Fontana has good size and is a good overall athlete, with the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap as a lefthanded hitter and enough speed to stretch extra-base hits. Fontana continued to hit the ball well in the playoffs and hit .322-6-28 with nine stolen bases during his junior year at Lynn.

4. Dan DiGeorgio, ss/2b, North Jersey (Rutgers/R-SO in 2019)
Built tall and rangy at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds, DiGeorgio is an intriguing, versatile athlete with the ability to play shortstop, second and third base. He was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team last spring, splitting time between the two middle infield positions at Rutgers while hitting .277 with 17 stolen bases. DiGeorgio followed that up by hitting .305 with 11 stolen bases in just 18 games this past summer. His righthanded swing is geared more for making contact, with a knack for hitting the all to all fields with good plate coverage.

5. Andrew Papantonis, ss, North Jersey (San Jacinto/SO in 2019)
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound middle infielder, Papantonis is light on his feet for his size with good range and a strong arm. A righthanded hitter, he is a good overall athlete with versatility on the infield and the ability to hit for both average and some power, as evidenced by his .333 average and four extra-base hits in just 17 games this past summer. Papantonis has transferred to San Jacinto for his sophomore season after appearing in just 12 games as a freshman at Virginia.
