2020 Top Prospects

Petey Halpin  OF - 2020 - San Mateo, CA
Texas

Halpin made a loud impression throughout the event, whether it was with his lefthanded swing or his strong throwing arm (91 mph) which he used to throw out a runner at home. Offensively he was able to drive the ball to all fields while putting together a string of excellent at bats while showing his fast-twitch athleticism.

Blaze Jordan  3B - 2020 - Southaven, MS
Mississippi State

Jordan doesn't need to do much with the bat at any single event to change his status as one off the top power hitters in the high school ranks regardless of class. What was impressive in San Diego was his increasing athleticism and the potential he could end up at third base in the long run.

Dylan Crews  OF - 2020 - Longwood, FL
Louisiana State

Crews has some of the best bat speed in the high school ranks and is one of those players who everyone is watching when he steps to the plate. He notably is very advanced at recognizing breaking balls and driving balls hard from foul line to foul line.

Mario Zabala  OF - 2020 - San Juan, PR
Florida International

Players aren't typically built like Zabala who was amongst the strongest in San Diego, nor do they have the tools he puts on display. Despite his 6-1/190 frame Zabala is a plus runner and shows big arm strength though his abilities with the bat may be his biggest asset with easy, advanced power to all fields.

Michael Brown  1B - 2020 - Vacaville, CA
University of Washington

Brown is one of the most impressive young power hitters we've seen in years. The 6-4/230 left handed hitter put a ball on the roof of the U San Diego dorms over the netting in right field during batting practice then lined a home run in the games off an 89 mph fastball that got out of the park immediately.

Jason Savacool  RHP - 2020 - Baldwinsville, NY
Maryland

Savacool was the most impressive pitcher at the event. Not only did he work consistently in the 90-92 mph range and throw strikes with his fastball but his 81-83 mph slider and his low to mid-80's split finger change up might have been the two most impressive secondary pitches shown during the two days.

Cayden Wallace  3B - 2020 - Greenbrier, AR
Arkansas

Wallace is one of the strongest right handed hitters in the 2020 class and has consistently performed at a high level in events across the country. He's also a two-way prospect who throws 90-92 mph off the mound with good feel for his curveball.

Chad Born  OF - 2020 - Placentia, CA
Miami

Born has one of the most important tools one can have on the field; he pretty much squares up the ball every time he comes to the plate. He has lots of strength to gain but he's a born hitter whose other tools are solid and will continue to improve.

Robert Hassell III  OF - 2020 - Franklin, TN
Vanderbilt

Hassell III is a primary lefthanded hitting outfielder and while there's plenty of strength to his simple and repeatable swing, there's not doubt there is two-way potential at the next level. A lefthanded pitcher as well, Hassell filled the strike zone with his fastball which topped out at 91 mph with some serious angle.

Alex Freeland  SS - 2020 - Cape Coral, FL
University of Central Florida

Freeland seemingly finds the barrel every time he digs into the batter's box as the young switch-hitter shows a natural feel for the barrel and consistently squares it up. He's a smooth defender with good instincts, soft hands, and a strong arm across as well who made all the plays look easy.

Trippe Moore  OF - 2020 - Forsyth, GA
Georgia/Georgia Highlands

Trippe Moore was outstanding over the two days at San Diego, putting his full array of skill on display. A primary outfielder, Moore made a nice diving catch in live action but it was his bat that really stood out, showing very nice bat speed and barrel skills, both of which were on display with his in game home run to left field.

Colt Keith  SS - 2020 - Biloxi, MS
Arizona State

There's no doubting Keith's ability to impact the baseball as he simply whips the barrel through the zone and generated some of the biggest bat speed in attendance. Keith found the barrel often in his round of BP and also jumped on the mound where he sat 87-89 mph with his fastball.

Ty Collins  RHP - 2020 - Los Angeles, CA
Uncommitted

Collins has a very projectable young 6-3/160 build and a lightning quick right arm with outstanding extension out front that makes his fastball velocity play up. He worked in the 88-91 mph range and there is plenty more there as he matures physically.

Marquis Grissom Jr  RHP - 2020 - Atlanta, GA
Georgia Tech

Grissom Jr seems to get better and take another jump every time we see him, with San Diego being no exception. Over his couple innings Grissom Jr worked very comfortably in the 87-90 mph range with his fastball, creating consistent plane while mixing in a sharp 12-6 curveball for strikes.

Nate Clow  SS - 2020 - Federal Way, WA
Southern California

Clow recently opened up his commitment and he sports a skillset that every college coach should want. He's a lefthanded hitting middle infielder who seemed to always find the barrel with quick hands and loose wrists in his swing and is also a sound defender with a strong arm across the diamond.

Milan Tolentino  SS - 2020 - Mission Viejo, CA
UCLA

Tolentino is the son of former big leaguer and current Angels broadcaster Jose Tolentino and that baseball background really shows in his polish and skills on the field. The left handed hitter also has plenty of tools, including a strong bat and smooth infield actions.

G Allen  3B - 2020 - Little Rock, AR
TCU

There's lots of physical strength on Allen's 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame and he knows how to incorporate that very well into his lefthanded swing. It's an easy, leveraged swing for Allen who shows plenty of bat speed and pop at impact along with sound defensive actions at third base with a good arm.

Jace Bohrofen  OF - 2020 - Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma

Bohrofen is a strong and athletic 6-2/180 outfielder out of Oklahoma who is still currently uncommitted and offers a strong skill set. His 93 mph throw from the outfield was tied for the event best and his lefthanded swing offers plenty of balance with strength at impact and present bat speed through the zone.

Ryan Bruno  LHP - 2020 - Wellington, FL
Stanford

There's a lot to like with Bruno on the bump, who was up to 90 mph from the left side in our most recent look, though there's plenty left in the tank. He overpowered opposing hitters with his fastball and still projects very well physically with his 6-2/175 frame moving forward.

Lukas Cook  SS - 2020 - Knoxville, TN
South Carolina

Cook is a big and strong athlete with two potential plus tools in his right handed power and his arm strength. He topped out at 92 mph off the mound with a big sweeping slider to highlight his potential on the mound.

Gerardo Cuevas  RHP - 2020 - Southlake, TX
Texas State

Cuevas has a reliever's profile with his stocky build and overall mechanics but his arm strength stands out. He came about hit 90-93 mph fastball velocity pretty easily and consistently and was aggressive in challenging hitters in the strike zone.

Daxton Fulton  LHP - 2020 - Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma

Fulton stands out for his impressive 6-6/220 build and his ability to get downhill with a present 86-88 mph fastball that has outstanding cutting action at times. He also throws a mid-70's curveball that has the potential to become a plus pitch in the future.

Jovan Gill  RHP - 2020 - Fort Myers, FL
Stetson

Gill worked three quick and efficient innings on the mound for his Purple team, allowing just one hit while striking out four. He was up to 91 mph with his heater and did a nice job of filling the zone and also put a couple balls out in BP from the left side.

Nicholas Griffin  LHP - 2020 - Monticello, AR
Arkansas

Griffin offers some serious two-way upside for Arkansas and it's easy to see why they locked up his commitment. Along with being super projectable physically, Griffin already works comfortably in the upper-80s and can impact the baseball well to his pull side with loose hands.

Storm Hierholzer  RHP - 2020 - Austin, TX
TCU

Hielholzer is a long and loose 6-2/180 right hander who worked in the upper 80's and touched 90 mph from a mid 3/4's arm slot. He showed good feel for spinning the ball at different velocities with slider-type shape.

Cade Horton  SS - 2020 - Norman, OK
Oklahoma

A high level athlete who's garnering attention on the grid iron, Horton stood out most for his abilities on the mound in San Diego, though he features plenty of strength in his swing. On the bump he was up to 92 mph with a quick arm and spun one of the harder breaking balls of the event.

Blake Money  RHP - 2020 - Spring Hill, TN
Louisiana State

Money is physically imposing on the mound at 6-foot-7, 235-pounds and his attack mode mentality only adds to the discomfort level of hitters. He ran his fastball up to 92 mph showing plenty of quickness to his arm and also mixed in both changeup and curveball for strikes.

Grayson Moore  OF - 2020 - Longwood, FL
Vanderbilt

Moore continues to improve on both sides of the ball and had a nice showing in San Diego. A switch-hitter, Moore showed a loose and easy swing with barrel skills from either side with projectable strength and was also up to 89 mph on the mound with a full and quick arm stroke while showing a pair of secondaries.

Jack Moss  1B - 2020 - Englewood, CO
Texas A&M

Moss made the trip out from Colorado and performed well, especially with his lefthanded swing. Staying short to the ball, the ultra-projectable 6-4/190 Moss did a nice job of impacting the baseball both in BP and live action, picking up a triple down the right field line and a nice double to the opposite field line.

Tommy O'Rourke  RHP - 2020 - Morristown, NJ
Stanford

O'Rourke took a strong step forward, showing a fastball up to 92 mph to go with nice feel for his curveball and change up. He works down the mound very well and uses his lower half to help create arm speed and velocity.

Steven Ondina  SS - 2020 - Gurabo, PR
Florida International

Ondina made the trip out from Puerto Rico and the fast-twitch shortstop showed well all over the field. His 95 mph throw during drills was tied for best of the event though he also was able to impact the baseball to all parts of the yard with a very quick right stroke.

Kevin Parada  C - 2020 - Pasadena, CA
Georgia Tech

Parada showed impressive bat speed when he was able to stay back and wait for the ball and projects lots of future power. He has a strong arm behind the plate, popping a 1.88 in drills and providing a defensive highlight play with a pick off at second base.

Logan Paustian  C - 2020 - La Grande, OR
Arizona State

Paustian stood out throughout the event with his defensive abilities behind the dish, showing plenty of agility along with clean receiving skills. He's a switch-hitter who showed a more advanced hit tool from the right side presently, staying short and quick to the ball.

Daylen Reyes  SS - 2020 - Northridge, CA
UCLA

The big tool for Reyes is his righthanded swing and though he's listed at 6-0/175, he packs plenty of strength into his offensive skill. His hands are short and quick to the ball and he showed jump both in live action and during BP, driving a double to the opposite field on a pitch that was on the outer half of the plate.

Orlando Salinas  SS - 2020 - Corpus Christi, TX
Oklahoma State

Salinas is a left handed hitter with exceptionally quick hands at the plate and the present strength to create lots of bat speed. He also has a strong arm that will enable him to play on the left side of the infield.

Kimble Schuessler  C - 2020 - Llano, TX
Texas A&M

Schuessler has a cannon behind the plate (83 mph in drills) and he wasn't afraid to show it off in live action, consistently back picking runners and delivered strikes on attempted thefts. It's not all about his defense either as he stays linear to the ball and shows strength and back spin at impact.

Kevin Sim  3B - 2020 - San Diego, CA
San Diego

Sim has some serious right handed bat speed and has the tools to hit for both power and average at the next level. He also has a strong arm and threw 92 mph during infield drills and 88 mph off the mound.

Jordan Thompson  SS - 2020 - Chula Vista, CA
Louisiana State

Thompson is starting to get stronger and showed improved bat speed at the plate due to that. He's a strong armed and projectable middle infielder who is also 88 mph off the mound.

Blade Tidwell  RHP - 2020 - Loretto, TN
Tennessee

Tidwell has a young 6-2/170 build and a very loose and fast arm. He worked in the 88-90 mph range and was still touching 90 mph during his third inning of work. His 77 mph slider was his best secondary pitch.

Grant Trinkle  OF - 2020 - Columbus, IN
John A. Logan College

Trinkle is a quick twitch athlete who has run 6.45 at past PG events and has the same type of quickness in his swing. He profiles as a centerfielder with top of the order offensive tools and a plenty of energy on the field.

Carson Tucker  SS - 2020 - Phoenix, AZ
Texas

Tucker looks like his body is going to take the same development path as his brother, former first round pick Cole Tucker. His athleticism and baseball skills are obvious and the strength will eventually come.

Jake Vogel  OF - 2020 - Huntington Beach, CA
UCLA

Vogel had a nice performance offensively this event, finding the barrel rather consistently from the right side of the plate, both in game and during batting practice. His swing is loose and compact, working to all fields well with simple mechanics and he was also up to 91 mph from the outfield.

Jordan Walker  3B - 2020 - Stone Mountain, GA
Duke

Walker has a long 6-4/190 build and is extremely projectable physically. He gets far more carry to his contact than one would expect, especially to the middle of the field, and is going to have enormous raw power once he starts to fill out. He's also a smooth fielding third baseman with a quick release.

Slade Wilks  OF - 2020 - Columbia, MS
University of Southern Mississippi

Wilks is a 6-2/208 left handed hitter whose game is all about power. He drove the ball very hard in batting practice, then crushed a no doubt home run, the longest of the event's three bombs, to right centerfield in the games.

2021 Top Prospects

Irving Carter  RHP - 2021 - Boynton Beach, FL
Miami

Carter is a big and strong 6-3/205 right hander who is already throwing 88-91 mph but was just as impressive for his outstanding change up, solid slider and advanced ability to pitch for his age. He threw strikes with all his pitches and maintained his stuff extremely well.

Jackson Baumeister  RHP - 2021 - Jacksonville, FL
Florida State

Baumeister is a highest level two-way talent, with a quiet set up behind the plate to go with potential elite level arm strength in addition to a present 90 mph fastball on the mound. He's 6-3/210 now but is loose and long armed and still projectable.

Nick Anello  RHP - 2021 - Plantation, FL
Florida Southwestern State College

Anello throws from a deceptive multi-part delivery that he keeps very directional and on time and has exceptional arm strength for a 2021, working in the 89-91 mph range for two innings. How much he improves his secondary pitches and especially his ability to spin the ball will be huge in his development.

Hunter Elliott  LHP - 2021 - Tupelo, MS
Mississippi

Elliott showed nice two-way potential and it's something the Ole Miss staff should be excited about. On the mound Elliott was up to 88 mph from the left side while making for an uncomfortable AB with his release and also stood out for his lefthanded swing, showing strength and the ability to impact the baseball to all fields already.

Kelly Crumpton  SS - 2021 - Jackson, MS
Northeast Mississippi CC

There's no doubting the arm strength of Crumpton as he showed in San Diego, throwing 92 mph across the diamond before bumping as high as 91 mph on the mound with obvious arm quickness. He also showed strength with the back, creating back spun contact off the barrel to all parts of the yard.

Brock Selvidge  LHP - 2021 - Chandler, AZ
Louisiana State

Selvidge settled in nicely on the mound and quickly began filling the strike zone with his fastball that bumped 87 mph over his couple innings of work. His delivery is a balanced one and his frame offers outstanding physical projection, two things that'll only aid the young LSU commit moving forward.

Keegan Allen  RHP - 2021 - Rogers, AR
West Virginia

Allen and his brother Payton are both very tooled up young athletes who keep improving step by step as the effort disappears from their games. There is arm strength and quick twitch athleticism there for both.
