FORT MYERS, Fla. – Dozens of prospects from the classes of 2020 and 2021 that are fresh off elite performances at last week’s Perfect Game WWBA Underclass World Championship are set to return to the fields at four Lee County complexes to take part in this weekend's inaugural PG WWBA Sophomore World Championship.

Sixty teams from 14 states – including California and Colorado – and Puerto Rico will compete for the title over this PG national championship tournament’s four-day run, which begins Friday, at the jetBlue, Lee County, CenturyLink and Terry Park player development complexes.

The Pembroke Pines, Fla.-based Elite Squad is among the entrants, returning to Southwest Florida just days after capturing the championship at the PG WWBA Underclass World.

Top 2020s Jordan Carrion (No. 43, Florida), Gavin Casas (No. 49), Timothy Manning (No. 85, Florida) and Angel Mediavilla (top-1,000) were all on that Underclass World championship team; Casas was named the Most Valuable Player and Carrion was the winning pitcher in the championship game.

No. 3-ranked 2021 Alejandro Rosario is also on the Elite Squad’s roster and was at last week’s Underclass World, as well. The Squad 2020s Enrique A. Bradfield Jr. (No. 59) and Giuseppe Ferraro (No. 72, Miami) complement that group.

In all, 15 of the top 85 and 22 of the top 146-ranked prospects from the class of 2020, and five of the top 80-ranked 2021s will be playing this weekend. 2020s Victor Mederos (No. 3, Miami), Brandon Fields (No. 12), Albert Hernandez (No. 23, Miami), Carlos Perez (No. 24) and Samuel Infante (No. 82, Miami) will all be in uniform for the Miami-based MVP Banditos. Top 2021 Chase LeBlanc (No. 80, Miami) is also with the team.

The SWFL Nation 2020’s Alex Freeland (No. 48), the Florida Burn 2020 Platinum’s Mac Guscette (No. 66, Florida), Hitters Baseball’s AJ Vukovich (No. 67, Louisville), Gatorball 16u’s Kishon Frett (No. 68, Florida) and EvoShield Florida 2020 Black’s Nick Gorby (No. 73, Florida State) are among the other 2020s that will be suited up.

The Dulins Dodgers-Booker will showcase the talents of slugging corner-infielder Blaze Jordan. A 6-foot, 215-pound 14-year-old, Jordan is a Mississippi State commit who won the Home Run Challenge at last month’s PG Select Baseball Festival at jetBlue Park; he has climbed into the No. 1 slot in the class of 2021 national rankings.

Other top 2021s expected in addition to Jordan, Rosario and LeBlanc include Team Beast 2020’s Christian Moore (No. 8) and the Rebels 2021’s Karson Ligon (No. 69).
