Weekend Preview |

There were six significant series coming into the weekend, many for conference bragging rights, and there were some loud statements made as a result. None was louder than Texas Tech beating TCU with a pair of wins on Sunday, including one dramatic come-from-behind victory (thanks to Brian Klein's three-run home run) that was a continuation of Saturday's game – which was suspended due to rain – and the rubber match that quickly turned into a 21-3 blowout.

North Carolina also made a large statement with a home sweep of previously fourth-ranked Clemson. Each of their three victories were decided late in the game, including Sunday's extra-inning walkoff. It marked UNC's eighth straight ACC series victory, which is a program record.

Stanford enjoyed yet another weekend sweep in the Pac-12 over Arizona, South Florida forced a five-team tie in the American Athletic Conference by knocking off the previous AAC frontrunners, Houston, while Auburn and Kentucky both continued their winning ways in the SEC with road series wins over Mississippi State and South Carolina, respectively.

While South Carolina does fall out of the rankings another SEC team takes their place in Texas A&M. The Aggies have re-entered the Top 25 by winning their last five weekend series, which dates back to late March when they were initially removed from the rankings. Missouri State also enters the Top 25, although for the Bears this marks the first time in 2017 that they have done so.
