2017 Preseason Junior College Top 50 Teams | Top 150 Junior College Prospects

It’s been a few weeks since our preseason Top 50 JuCo team rankings were first posted and a good amount has happened in the interlude. The Florida schools have really hit the ground running, with several already having played nearly 20 games. Schools across the Southeast, Texas and California aren’t far behind as their respective seasons are well underway, and following this week every JuCo team should have at least started their season.

Chipola (Fla.) retains the No. 1 spot in our rankings, having gone 12-3 over their first 15 games, with big-time wins coming over notable opponents such as Walters State and State College of Florida, as well as a split with San Jac helping their resume. After No. 1, however, the Top 25 looks quite a bit different than the initial one of a few weeks ago.

State College of Florida moves all the way up to the No. 2 spot on the heels of a 13-5 start, with notable ace and potential first-round draft choice Brendon Little dazzling scouts in his starts thus far. Sliding up to No. 3 is Chattahoochee Valley, who is off to a 10-1 start. San Jac slips one spot to No. 4 but still looks strong; especially given the start of reigning NJCAA Pitcher of the Week MacGregor Hines is off to. Santa Rosa takes over the No. 5 spot this week.

Other big movers of note include LSU-Eunice, up 5 spots to No. 7, Central Arizona College, who rose the most this week from No. 24 all the way up to No. 12, and Arizona Western, who came from completely off the map to debut this week at No. 24. Arizona Western has had perhaps the loudest first few weeks en route to an 11-2 start, with big-time wins over Top 50-ranked schools including Yavapai, College of Southern Nevada and GateWay.

As the season gets going for schools in the northern parts of the country make sure to check back every week as these rankings are extremely fluid and will undoubtedly look different every week.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, Feb. 19.
