Purple-6 vs Black-1 Game Highlights

5/31/2023

Black

Brance Farrell (2024 C, Needville, TX) absolutely turned on a ball for a line-drive double down the left field line. He did a really good job getting the hands inside on the ball to barrel up. Strong set of hands with strength.

Michael Peavy (2025 C, Houston, TX) came out firing for his squad off the bump sitting 85-88 early with some firmness. Showed feel for spin with a nice-looking curve that he was able to drop in for strikes. Did a really good job painting the corners with his fastball and sequencing it well with his curve. He got a ton of chases on his off-speed stuff.  Worked quick with confidence.

Mikey Grayson (2025 OF, Conroe, TX) rocked a ball to the right-center gap on a deep fly ball for a triple. Showed good opposite field pop and toughness here after getting drilled in the ribs earlier.

Purple

Kaul Perkins (2025 SS, Amite, LA) looked really good off the bump for Purple running it up to 87 with arm side run. He dominated in his outing going 2 hitless innings with 1k. He located well and had an idea on how to sequence his pitches. Has a quick arm and works with a good pace. Had a 3-pitch mix including a curve and change. He threw the change to lefties every now and then. Curve looked good at times with 10-4 shape. He painted the edges with his fastball and was not afraid to come inside.

Maroon-4 vs Orange-5 Game Highlights

5/31/2023

Ben Nutwell (2025 SS, Cypress, TX) got things moving for Orange in the bottom of the first, leading off with an infield single. Satish Raichur (2024 C, Albuquerque, NM) followed him by shooting the left center field gap for an opposite field double.
Ethan Wood (2024 1B, Austin, TX) got Maroon into the hit column in the second with a well struck single up the middle.
In the bottom half, after reaching on an error, Paden Tortorice (2023 C, Katy, TX) came around to open the scoring via a fielders choice and a wild pitch.

Roberto Calzada (2025 OF, Shenandoah, TX) lead off the top of the third with a seeing eye base hit in the six hole. Next batter, Jack Carter (2025 C, College Station, TX) pulled a base hit to left.

Gray Edwards (2025 3B, Aledo, TX) led off the bottom of the third with an infield hit, advancing on a throwing error. Ryan Gonzales (2025 LHP, Rosenberg, TX) followed that with a solid liner to left.
David Montalbano (2025 OF, Missouri City, TX) was able to leg out an infield single in the fourth, followed by Thomas Schnabel (2025 OF, Driftwood, TX) sending one through the left side.
Drake Threadgill (2024 LHP, Fredericksburg, TX) added on to the Orange lead when he crushed a double into the right center field gap, showing some power potential and driving in a runner who reached on a dropped third strike.
After a couple of quiet innings, Roberto Calzada added his second hit of the day with a laser to left field.
Ryan Gonzales showed some opposite field strength with his seventh inning leadoff single, his second knock of the day. Two batters later, Isiah Lopez (2024 SS, Midland, TX) drove him in on another knock to left, cutting into the Orange lead.

Columbia-2 vs Gray-3 Game Highlights

5/31/2023

Columbia

Luca Anzalone (2025 C, The Woodlands, TX) absolutely hammered a ball deep into the right-centerfield gap for a rbi triple. He then proceeded to score on a wild pitch. He got to the pitch up in the zone and showed good ability to really drive the ball the other way with authority. Went with the pitch well while getting fully extended. Quick hands on display here with some strength to boot.

William Hill (2025 OF, Humble, TX) Smashed a deep fly ball to right-center one hopping the wall for an easy standup double. Has an extremely quick bat and gets out of the box fast. Can fly around the bases. Uber athletic player with budding power.

Chance Kirtley (2026 2B, Tomball, TX) collected his second hit on the day with a single back up the middle driving in a run. Has a really nice contact approach.

Sawyer Haynes (2024 SS, Waco, TX) made a great diving play up the middle to his back-hand side and got up quickly to make the throw on time. Quick first step with good fielder instincts. Found a loud barrel in his final ab of the game to left for a base knock. Big physical looking kid with big time power potential.

Gray

John D Mitchell (2024 RHP, Cypress, TX) showed some pretty intriguing stuff during his outing going 2 strong innings with 4ks. Fastball was mainly sitting 87-90 with some subtle run at times. The ball comes out easy and doesn’t seem like a lot of effort. Some looseness in the arm. He sequenced in a curve that sat in the upper 70s with high spin. He can really spin it. He went to his curve the most as his 2 strike out pitch. He can locate it well. He flashed a change as well which kept hitters off-balance.

Austin Traverse (2025 2B, Tomball, TX) stayed on the curve well driving it back up the middle for a base hit. Showed that he can recognize spin and go with it.

Jake Farris (2024 OF, Lafayette, LA) torched a ball on a line towards the right-centerfield gap for a stand-up double. Has a short compact lefty swing with good bat speed. Has 2 hits on the day.

Orange-5 vs Purple-6 Game Highlights

5/30/2023

After a quiet first inning, Conner Cramer (2024 C, Conroe, TX) pulled the first pitch he saw down the right field line, one hopping the wall for a leadoff double, however, he was doubled off two batters later trying to take third base on a dropped third strike, when Ayden Stewart (2025 1B, Keller, TX) made an excellent throw from first.
Cayden Herren (2024 3B, Port Lavaca, TX) got Purple into the hit column in the bottom of the second when he beat out an infield single on a grounder too shortstop.
In the fifth inning, Caleb Simons (2026 OF, Cypress, TX) opened the scoring with a solo home run that tucked inside the left field foul pole, clearing the fence. Behind him, Texas A&M commit Catcher Hopkins (2026 C, Tomball, TX) followed that with a loud base hit into the right center field gap. Hopkins eventually came around to score as a result of some great base running, as well as a balk.
In the eighth, Satish Raichur (2024 C, Albuquerque, NM) got his hands inside quickly and pulled a double down the left field line.
In the ninth, Caden Kiefer (2024 1B, Conroe, TX) lead things off with a solid base hit. Conner Cramer was able to drive him in with a well struck breaking ball into center field, resulting in an RBI single.
Catcher Hopkins added his second hit of the day in the bottom of the inning with a bouncer up the middle.
In the top of the tenth, Brian Ramirez (2025 OF, San Diego, TX) made the catch of the day when he took a great route and dove to steal an extra base hit out of the left centerfield gap.

Black-1 vs Columbia-2 Game Highlights

5/30/2023

Augustus Bickett (2025 C, The Woodlands, TX) got things rolling for Black with a line drive single to lead off the game.
In the second, Mikey Grayson (2025 OF, Conroe, TX) was able to lace one down the left field line and leg it out for a stand up double. Richard Kiosek (2024 OF, Houston, TX) followed that up by golfing a breaking ball into center for an RBI single.
In the bottom half, Texas commit William Hill (2025 OF,Humble, TX) barreled a base hit into the left center field gap, followed by a well struck single by Chance Kirtley (2026 2B, Tomball, TX).
In the bottom of the third, Jackson Baird (2024 OF, Robinson, TX) pulled a fastball into the right center field gap and showed decent speed as he legged out a stand up triple, later coming in to score on a passed ball.
Augustus Bickett once again added a well struck single by turning on a mid-80s fastball in the top of the fourth.
Mikey Grayson laced another double down the left field line in the fifth, avoiding the tag at second with a nice slide. Once again, Richard Klosek followed that up with an RBI single, advancing to third after the ball was booted in center field.
In the sixth, Nathan Trevino (2026 OF, Laredo, TX) found some grass on a flyball into center, and Camden Babcock (2024 3B, Needville, TX) fallowed that by crushing a double off the middle of the left field fence.
Austin Reed (2025 C, Sugar Land, TX) got things rolling in the sixth with a leadoff single up the middle, later swiping second.
After a few quiet innings, Javier Nazario (2024 SS, Delray Beach, FL) did a nice job of staying on a quality breaking ball and driving it back up the middle for a single.
In the bottom of the ninth, Griffin Lyczkowski (2025 3B, Spring, TX) beat out an infield hit.
Jackson Baird showed off the speed with yet another triple in the tenth, this time driving one the other way and getting to third with ease.

Sunshine South Showcase Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2023

Jeffrey-Todd Darden (2026 OF, Cypress, TX) athletic stroke with bat speed and extension. Stays through well from an inside out swing. Worked up the middle, clean process and parts work. Athletic all the way around.

Cayden Herren (2024 3B, Port Lavaca, TX) generates big lift out front, several quality swings and worked pull side effectively. Good strength out front, physical impact and it projects a good bit.

Augustus Bickett (2025 C, The Woodlands, TX) whippy stroke with bat speed and sprays to both gaps. Easy intent in the path and the hands work awfully well. Good round to all fields.

Michael Peavy (2025 C, Houston, TX)  Big impact strength when squared and a good combo of bat speed to it. Gets barrel out front and impacts it well. Gets into those hips, clears them and lets the barrel whip.

Trevor Ainsworth (2024 RHP, Pearland, TX) some of the loudest contact in the event, peppered gaps and left the yard to the pull side. Just real impact strength to both halves and it comes off loud. Impressive showing.

William Hill (2025 OF, Humble, TX) athletic stroke with budding power. Bat speed is real and the barrel whip can play. Loose and lifts well. Good strength to the pull side, chance to be a pretty special bat if it all comes together.

Catcher Hopkins (2026 C, Tomball, TX) switch hitter with tons of hand speed. Real impact and produces big backspin and carry to the pull side. Left-handed stroke really impressed and it's athletic all around, very impressive.

Parker Smith (2024 C, Montgomery, TX) worked it out front very well. Sinks it out front and sprayed both gaps. Bat speed and impact strength, very easy to tap into. Has a ton of traits to work with.

Easton Autrey (2026 3B, Corsicana, TX) was loud in all facets. He sent a ball way over the right field fence. The bat speed is more than present, it's loud. Separates and impacts. Tons of traits and athleticism for age. Easy backspin, carry to path.

Thomas Schnabel (2025 OF, Driftwood, TX) real strong frame and athletic. Bat speed and big impact off barrel. Turns well to the pull side, loud when the load calms and stays squared. Hard impact that can translate.

Caden Kiefer (2024 1B, Conroe, TX) good angle to the barrel with big lift and intent in the hands. Hand strength stood out with solid bat speed. Big impact to the pull-side gap in his round, quality showing.

Gray-3 vs Maroon-4 Game Highlights

5/30/2023

Jack Carter (2025 C, College Station, TX) started his day off with some solid work behind the dish showing some mobility getting to both side while blocking. At the plate he jumped on a fastball and picked up a single in his first at bat driving the ball back up the middle with a quick compact swing. He added another knock in his third at bat to finish the day 2-3 with an RBI. He did a nice job using the big part of the filed all day staying back up the middle with his approach.

Ryan Gonzales (2025 LHP, Rosenberg, TX) put together some solid inning on the mound where he was able to pound the zone with three pitches. He ran the fastball up to 83 mph while also mixing in his breaking ball and a solid changeup. His feel for three pitches and athleticism on the mound both project well. At the plate he added a single to right field in his first at bat getting the barrel to an elevated fastball and dropping a line drive single in front of the right fielder.

Kolin Swindall (2025 RHP, Alvin, TX) showed three quality pitches in his outing on the mound. The rising junior was living in the low 80’s with his fastball moving it through the zone on the vertical axis with success. Off the fastball he showed good feel for spin with a big 12-6 curveball that landed in the low 70’s as well as a quality changeup he broke out later in the outing with the ability to fade it below the zone. Over his three innings of work he punched out six showing a mature ability to sequence his pitches one off another.

Trent McGowen (2025 SS, Elm Grove, LA) got it done on both sides of the ball. The rising junior threw two innings of no-hit ball on the mound where he ran it up to 80 and did a nice job staying out of the middle of the plate and allowing his movement to keep him off the barrel. At the plate he added a line drive single in his second at bat jumping on a mid 80’s fastball up in the zone and driving it into center field.

Parker Smith (2024 C, Montgomery, TX) showed off the strength and barrel ability with a laced triple in his first at bat. The physical back stop was able to get his hands inside an elevated fastball and split the opposite field gap for extra bases. The offensive skills he showed along with his work behind the plate project well moving forward into his senior year of high school.

Mark Macklin (2026 OF, Katy, TX) drove in two runs with his second at bat as he hammered a fastball the other way for extra bases. He was able to stay short to contact with his right-handed swing and get the barrel to a fastball on the inner half of the plate driving it to right-center field for a stand up double. On the mound he added two scoreless innings while running the fastball up to 82 mph.

Anthony Borja (2025 3B, Houston, TX) displayed good feel on the mound with each of his pitches topping at 79 mph. Consistently worked ahead of hitters and effectively changed speeds to each edge of the plate. Struck out four batters allowing two hits in his two innings of work.
