3-White Game Highlights

5/28/2023

Luke Schultz (2025 SS, Louisburg, KS) narrowly missed leaving the yard to left field today, jumping all over a high higher and getting the barrel onto of the ball.  He is a twitchy athlete that utilizes his frame well and created nice barrel speed through the zone with his fast hands.  He has a projectable frame and will continue to add power as he fills out.

Jack Manning (2025 RHP, Parkville, MO) has an extra-large frame with present strength in his lower half.  He pushes down the mound well, allowing his fastball that sat at 80-84 mph to get on hitters and create swings and misses.  He moved the fastball to both sides of the plate early in the count and worked a changeup off it with nice fade that misses barrels.  He also showed the ability to handle the bat at the plate, adding a sharply hit single to right-center field in one of his plate appearances.

Kelvin Jones Jr. (2025 1B, Chicago, IL) turned on an inside offering and sent a hot shot down the right field line and showed off his 6.96 second sixty-yard dash speed ending up on third base with an easy triple.  He has quick hands through the zone and accelerates well, getting to top speed early allowing him to take extra bases frequently.  He was thrown a good pitch to hit in the second game as well and turned on it for a hard base hit to right field.

Blake Sarnecki (2026 RHP, Bucyrus, KS) made the most of his at bats today, racking up a couple of hard-hit singles.  He has an up-the-middle approach that allows him to stay through the baseball and hit it to where it is pitched.  He did a nice job of dropping the barrel in his last at bat and squaring up a pitch at his knees.

2-Green Game Highlights

5/28/2023

Tyler Putnam (2026 RHP, Columbia, MO) has a projectable frame on the mound and creates nice whip with his arm that allowed his fastball to touch 87 mph.  He is consistent with his delivery and lives in the zone with all of his offerings.  He works ahead with his fastball and goes to his breaking ball late in counts for called strikes and swings and misses.  He ended his three-inning outing with seven strikeouts.

Blake Hoffer (2026 LHP, Glenview, IL) was in control at the plate today, lining two base hits for loud singles.  In the last game of the day, he stayed through a fastball and drove it into the left-center field gap where it rolled to the wall and he ended up with a triple.  He has a large frame and good timing at the plate, hitting the ball where it was pitched.  He has a sound swing and a power hitters’ profile that will continue to fill out as he adds strength.

Luke Schaning (2026 OF, West Allis, WI) continued to swing a hot bat today, recording a pair of base knocks in the first game today.  He keeps his weight back when he is at the plate well, allowing him to sit back on breaking balls and attack fastballs that catch too much of the zone.  He is a strong athlete that can do damage to all parts of the field.

Jonathan Torres (2024 2B, Des Plaines, IL) put his solid bat-to-ball skills on display today, recording multiple hits in the first game of the day.  He stays on balance at the plate and does not chase many pitches out of the zone.  He keeps his hands inside the ball well and is able to get the barrel to the ball no matter the pitch location.

1-Gray Game Highlights

5/28/2023

Kaeden Woods (2024 SS, Oklahoma City, OK) hammered an elevated fastball to deep center field and showed off the speed, ending up on third with an easy triple.  He does a nice job of coiling his body at the plate and creating separation.  He works through the ball well leading to easy power.

Joseph Baumbach (2025 1B, Fountain, CO) sent a lined shot into the left center field gap that went all the way to the wall, allowing him to scamper around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.  He has a lean and athletic frame with plenty of room to add strength and allow him to continue to rack up extra base hits.

Connor Day (2025 C, Barnhart, MO) continued his impressive Showcase by showing his two-way potential.  He continued to swing a hot bat, sending hard line drives to all parts of the field.  He also jumped on the mound and went after hitters with his fastball that was up to 84 mph.  He pitched to all parts of the zone and worked in a slider later in counts.

Griffin Boesen (2027 OF, Des Moines, IA) showed nice two-way potential today, performing well on the mound and at the plate.  On the mound he moved his fastball to all four quadrants and was not afraid to live in the zone.  His heater was up to 79 mph and he paired this with a solid breaker with two plane break.  At the plate he allows the ball to get deep into the hitting zone and uses all parts of the field

3-White Game Highlights

5/27/2023

Wade Mann (2024 LHP, Kearney, MO) is a big bodied left handed pitcher with an athletic and in control delivery.  He has a nice two pitch mix with a fastball up to 87 mph and a 1-7 curveball that features tons of depth.  He really slows the curveball down and is able to create 20 mph of separation between his two pitches at times, making it tough on opposing hitters to time him up.  He was able to rack up seven strikeouts during his three innings on the mound.  He showed nice power with the bat as well, driving a ground rule double deep into the right-center field gap.

Nathan Matoush (2025 LHP, Hillsboro, IL) has a big, projectable frame and hides the ball well on his delivery.  He pushes down the mound well and is able to locate his 84-mph fastball to both sides of the plate.  He pairs this fastball with a sweeping curveball with nice two-plane break.  He also flashed a changeup that had solid fade.  He worked ahead of hitters well and was able to throw three clean innings while collecting six strikeouts along the way.

Milo Burton (2026 3B, Overland Park, KS) is an athletic player on the mound and it comes through with his clean mechanics.  He is able to easily repeat his delivery and fills up the one with his three-pitch mix.  He has good life on his fastball that was up to 88 today.  He spins his curveball well, consistently reaching 2600+ spin rate that gives it sharp break and good depth.  He also mixes in a slider that has more horizontal break and is distinct from his curve.

Cameron Cooper (2025 SS, Millstadt, IL) showed nice discipline at the plate today, letting an outside fastball travel deep into the hitting zone before sending it into right center field for an easy double.  He is able to get his barrel to the ball no matter where the pitch is and create loud contact to all parts of the field.

1-Gray Game Highlights

5/27/2023

Max Bettis (2025 RHP, Topeka, KS) impressed on the mound today, showing a strong three pitch mix.  He leaned on his fastball that touched 90 to work ahead of hitters and put them away with a sharp, biting slider that generated tons of swings and misses.  He also showed good feel for a fading changeup.  He does a nice job of creating velocity separation on all of his offerings.

Connor Day (2025 C, Barnhart, MO) showed out on both sides of the ball during his first game today.  He started by using good footwork and a quick release in throwing a would-be base stealer.  He then turned on an inside fastball and sent it down the line for a double.

Henry Hoge (2025 OF, Lenexa, KS) showed nice barrel control today and launched an RBI triple to right field.  He would follow the triple up with another line drive base hit to right field.  He does a nice job of staying on balance and keeping his hands inside the baseball at the plate and hitting the ball hard where it is pitched.

Colt Chambers (2025 SS, Clinton, UT) stood out defensively today, making the defensive play of the day in left when he made a spectacular diving catch coming in on a sinking line drive.  He also showed nice barrel control at the plate, lacing a single in the second game.

2-Green Game Highlights

5/27/2023

Andrew DuMont (2024 RHP, Wildwood, MO) dazzled on the mound for three strong, scoreless innings.  He is an athletic pitcher that has big time arm speed that allows his fastball to live 88-91 mph with late burst through the zone.  He pairs this fastball with a sharp, late breaking slider that misses barrels and is a true out pitch.

Emerson Lane (2024 RHP, Bixby, OK) dominated on the mound during his three outing, showing great pitchability of his three-pitch mix.  His fastball showed life through the zone while sitting 83-85 mph.  He located it well and created swings and misses at the top of the zone.  He curve has nice depth and he can locate it in the zone for a strike or in the dirt for swings and misses.  His changeup has tons of fade and he worked it away from left-handed hitters well.

Brody Gomez (2025 C, Fort Scott, KS) does a nice job of getting the barrel through the zone and making contact out in front of the plate.  He wore out the pull side gap, sending hard line drives down the right-field line.

Connor Rice (2024 SS, Sedalia, MO) swung a hot bat today, recording multiple hits in his game actions.  He has an up-the-middle approach which worked well as that’s where he went with his pair of singles today.  He has a smooth swing at the plate and does a nice job of staying on balance.

Luke Schaning (2026 OF, West Allis, WI) was all over the ball at the plate today, going 3-for-4 with a double across the two games he played in today.  He is an athletic player that works through the baseball with his lower half well.  He has the ability to let the ball travel deep into the hitting zone and hit the ball hard to all parts of the field.

Gamaliel Jones (2024 OF, Tulsa, OK) peppered the ball at the plate today, logging multiple hits and collecting an RBI in the process.  He is consistently on time when hitting and is selective which allows him to get a good pitch to hit each time at the plate.
