Orange vs. Royal Game Highlights

2/27/2022

Daelen Johnson (2023 RHP, Beaver Dam, WI) - Put together a quality start for the Orange Team is this one, sitting 84-86 mph with a loose and whippy arm. The fastball showed good sink and arm side run, and he was not afraid to play into his movement by throwing it in on the hands of right-handed hitters. He featured a solid four-pitch mix that included an 11-5 curveball with sharp downer action.

Michael Carpenter (2023 LHP, Lisbon, WI) - The strong and athletic lefty showcased a long and loose arm action that came through clean and with good arm speed. He ran his fastball up to 86 mph and flashed good feel for a big, 2-8 shaped breaking ball with present depth and tilt at 72 mph.

Jay Tuttle (2023 C, Owosso, MI) - Came out of the pen throwing heat late in the game, as he climbed the ladder and topped out at 91 mph. The physical right-hander impressed in all facets of the game today. His arm speed is electric and the ball really jumps out of his hand. He also flashed a nasty 11-5 curveball with late bite at 74 mph.

Kyle Remington (2023 OF, Grand Rapids, MI) - Solid single through the 3/4 hole. Ball tends to jump off the bat when on time, creating some backspin. Really high upside here, with ability to drive the baseball gap to gap. Minnesota commit, who really impressed during the game portion today. He also turned some heads on the mound, as he hopped up there and ran his fastball up to 91 mph, showing advanced arm speed.

Noah Dreier (2023 SS, Brookfield, WI) - Put together a dominant outing for the Royal Team, sitting 86-87 mph with a short and compact arm action. He threw a hammer breaking ball with late and sharp downer action, in addition to a slider and a changeup. The four-pitch mix was impressive for a secondary pitcher, and there are plenty of projectable components to like about his game moving forward.

Weston Russell (2023 SS, St. Anthony, MN) - Flashed some intriguing arm speed on the bump in this one, sitting 84-86 mph. He incorporates his entire body well into the the delivery, getting the most out of his strength and frame. He also threw a hammer curveball with 12-6 shape and significant vertical drop.

Elias Alvarado (2025 RHP, Chicago, IL) - Started game two with a hard-hit ball over 2nd base. Let the hands work to the opposite field and found a nice barrel. In his 3rd AB of the day, Alvarado pieced up a ball into CF for a single. Athletic build who handled wood well during game action.

Liam Arsich (2025 OF, Mokena, IL) - Found a barrel going into the opposite gap off a mid 80’s FB. Got to extension point well, used some athletic levers too get too the outside pitch. Went the other way for another single later in the day.

Ty O'Connell (2023 C, Winfield, IL) - Fly out to LC gap in one of his later ABs. Rode the FB inside and kept the hands in to find good wood. Had a base hit up the middle off an upper 80’s FB today. Athletic backstop who showed well defensively during the event as well.

Gavin Obremski (2024 C, Stevens Point, WI) - Loud fly out to LF. The lefty hitter took the outside pitch the other way, while displaying some quick twitch muscles and the barrel control to wait back on it. Took a tight slider at 75 for a base hit over the second baseman. Handled the bat throughout the day.

2/27/2022

Richard Carlson (2027 RHP, South Beloit, IL) -Showed good balance in the box squaring up a low 80’s FB for a hard-hit ball in the LF gap. His balanced approach allowed him to adjust well in the box. He also looked good on the bump, showing advanced mechanics and stuff for his age.

Cal Casper (2024 C, Sobieski, WI) - Hard hit ball to right center gap. Showed good barrel control, letting the ball get deep and going the other way with it.

Blake Grimmer (2023 SS, Spring Lake, MI) - Line drive hit up the middle. Showed good balance and ability to use the barrel. In a later AB, found the barrel again for a loud out to the pull side. Tall athletic frame, that will continue to add strength.

Paul Jones II (2024 1B, Prior Lake, MN) - Left-handed hitter drove one deep to RF with carry. Was on time in his first AB and jumped all over a first pitch FB. Demolished a first pitch FB in his second AB as well, for a clear-cut double over CF.

Carter Kutz (2025 C, Hartford, WI) - Jumped on an inside FB for a line drive to left field. Displayed quick hands and the ability to have gap to gap power. Later, got hit on back-to-back pitches then took the next pitch to the opposite field gap for a loud base hit. He also flashed some significant arm strength on the bump, running his fastball up to 86 mph.

Howie Rickett (2022 C, Waunakee, WI) - Right-handed hitter drove a first pitch FB into the opposite field gap for a loud double. Kept the hands back and swung with high intent. Looked comfortable using the whole field.

Cole Selvig (2023 RHP, Altoona, WI) - Was lights out on the mound today, running his fastball up to 93 mph and showing elite command. He was dominant in both of his innings, generating double digit swings and misses. He featured a 12-6 hammer curveball with sharp vertical bite, in addition to a changeup with late fade and a tight slider.

Eli Nissen (2023 LHP, Minot, ND) - Put together an impressive showing on the mound as well, running his fastball up to 86 mph from the left side. He creates a tough angle/deception by closing himself off on the stride and throwing across his body. He was not afraid to challenge up in the zone with his fastball, and he got swing and miss up there consistently. He also featured a solid changeup and a slurvy breaking ball with sharp two-plane break.

Jack Detienne (2024 SS, Verona, WI) - Showed some intriguing potential on the bump, sitting 82-84 mph and topping out at 85 mph. The arm action is long and loose with present arm speed, and his lanky 6-foot frame has plenty of room for further physical development.

Blake Grimmer (2023 SS, Spring Lake, MI) has excellent bat speed and the strength gains are notable, showing the ability to create lots of lift and big time power to the pull side. Impact bat.

Dillon Putty (2023 1B, McHenry, IL) rotates really well and lets his physical strength play in his swing, bringing the barrel around with authority and showing real power pull-side.

Griffin Staahl (2022 OF, West Fargo, ND) has real bat speed with quick hands and a compact path, getting the barrel out front and creating leverage, with impact pull-side.

Ryan Mooney (2023 OF, Rochester Hills, MI) has gained noticeable strength and it's showing up in his bat speed and contact consistency, with plenty of bat speed and better leverage out front creating consistent impact.

Howie Rickett (2022 C, Waunakee, WI) has a smooth stroke with good bat speed and rotational strength, staying on plane and covering the plate well with barrels up the middle and towards both gaps consistently.

Jaxon Clayton (2025 3B, Brookfield, WI) had advanced physicality and it plays in his swing, getting the barrel turned with bat speed and showing consistent leverage ability, with big time impact pull-side and more coming.

Paul Jones II (2024 1B, Prior Lake, MN) is very strong and it shows up immediately in his swing, with lots of power pull-side from a strength/bat speed combo and the makings of a high-level lefthanded bat.

Alexander Boston (2024 RHP, Afton, MN) stays committed to the middle of the field with a clean, compact swing that stays on plane and features good bat speed, showing the ability to use the whole field well.

John Hadley (2024 1B, Sun Prairie, WI) has a very projectable build with a smooth, loose stroke that features bat speed and good barrel accuracy, projecting well long term with big power upside.

Clayton Kroschel (2025 OF, Beaver Dam, WI) shows a quick bat with a compact hand path, getting the barrel on a linear plane and keeping it there with good extension through contact and consistent linear barrels.

AJ Putty (2025 3B, McHenry, IL) is advanced physically for his age and shows that strength in his swing, with good lift to the path and good lower half drive, getting the ball into the air pull-side with authority.

Jay Tuttle (2023 C, Owosso, MI) took a very loud round, with a pretty simple and repeatable move into the swing and a heavy barrel, turning it consistently with bat speed and showing lots of power to all fields.

Kyle Remington (2023 OF, Grand Rapids, MI) has excellent bat speed from the left side with explosive hands, showing the ability to consistently be accurate with the barrel while hammering balls consistently middle-pull. The power projection stands out here as well.

Elias Alvarado (2025 RHP, Chicago, IL) rotates really well and gets the barrel on plane early, generating quality bat speed on an adjustable path that allows him to find hard line drive barrels to all fields.

Noah Dreier (2023 SS, Brookfield, WI) creates consistent leverage and does a good job getting the barrel turned, showing impact to the pull-side with good projection for more given the bat speed.

Samuel Mommer (2024 C, Oak Creek, WI) took a consistent round with a smooth stroke overall, generating solid bat speed and doing a nice job of using the whole field with projection for power.

Carter Amelse (2025 RHP, Coon Rapids, MN) has good strength to his frame and in his hands, showing the ability to really hammer the ball on a line when he's on time out front. The power stands out for his age.
