James “Sawyer” Sawyer (2025, Belhaven, N.C.) was able to get up on the mound and deliver a quality outing for Dirtbags National 2025. Sawyer is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed pitcher who has a more physical and bigger frame. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with some whip-through release. He has worked the mid- to upper-80s on the fastball, getting up to 87 mph. The pitch had a good life to it. He also was able to spot up a harder slider in the 77-79 mph range that had a tighter and sharper lateral break. He was able to elicit whiffs during the outing for an exceptional line as he finished.
