Northeast Qualifier Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Luke Matta (2022, Shenandoah, Pa.) got the start on the bump for Northeast Pride Scout Team Sunday morning in round one of playoff action. Tossing a complete game gem, the physically intimidating Matta punched out nine batters, as he would only allow one run during his outing. Working with an athletic operation with good hip flexibility for his size, the uncommitted senior sat 82-85/6 mph during his six innings of work. Using his extra-large frame to create downhill action on his fastball, Matta worked down in the zone generating a lot of ground ball outs. Landing his advanced slider often for strikes, the Pennsylvania native showed good feel for the slide piece as he threw it early and often in often. Receiving early run support from his teammates, Matta was able to cruise through his start with the comfort of a several run cushion.
