16u East WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 & 2

Baker Green (2022 Trussville, AL) a primary catcher for his TPL Pro Elite 2022 got the start in game one on the mound and proved more than capable. The right hander sat 80-83 mph with his fastball with a few 84’s and topped out at 85 mph. His ability to locate the fastball where he wanted in any count went a long way in allowing him to work two plus scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He showed a sharp quick ram action with good extension out front as the ball seemed to get on the hitters quick, creating some uncomfortable swings and misses. With a 6-3, 190 pound frame he projects well to add more to his already physical build.

In a strong start for Easley Baseball Club 16U D. Young, Connor McCaslin (20222 Arlington, TN) worked five scoreless innings allowing no runs, on just four hits, with four strike outs. Maybe the most impressive part of his outing was the fact that he finished with no walks as he threw 63% strikes in his outing. He worked primarily off his fastball that sat 80-82 mph and topped out at 84 mph. He also mixed in a short breaking curveball in the mid 60’s with 11-5 shape as he was able to land it for strikes consistently. With a 6-2, 185 pound frame the primary righthanded pitch still has room to fill on his young build.
