14U South Scout Notes: Days 1 & 2

Braylon Brooks (2024, Tuttle, OK) is a young, medium framed primary shortstop who got the nod on the mound in day three action for OK Fuel 14U. He starts with a small gather step into a leg kick above the belt. He gets his front side up with good separation at the hand break and has rhythm to his delivery. He has some quickness to the arm and throws from a high three-quarters slot with a long circle in the back. Being held to a pitch count, he threw 3 2/3 innings, allowed zero hits and struck out four. He worked his fastball up to 82 mph and flashed a 11-5 breaking ball at 69 mph. At the plate, in his first at-bat, he showed off some pop to the opposite field gap by hitting a double that plated two runs. Brooks is a high energy player and will be a prospect to keep an eye on over the next four years.
