High School Class of 2022 Player Rankings

With the end of the summer and fall travel circuit seasons, and with the update of the individual class-by-class player rankings, we take a look at some of the players that moved up the most. To view the entire rankings, which can also be filtered by state, click on the link above.


10. Nolan Schubart, of, Durand, Mich. (Michigan)
An up-and-coming two-way prospect in the 2022 class, Schubart used an impressive summer that included an outstanding performance at the 14u PG Select Festival to climb over 100 spots and into the top 10 of the 2022 player rankings. While the Michigan commit features a heavy fastball already up to 89 mph, Schubart has fast hands and some serious raw strength from the left side of the plate that make him a legitimate two-way player at the collegiate level. The sky is the limit for the Michigan native as he continues to fill out and add strength to his 6-foot-4 frame.

21. Paxton Kling, of, Roaring Spring, Pa. (Louisiana State)
Uncommitted and ranked outside the Top 1000 just a few months ago, Kling has used an outstanding summer and fall to leap all the way to No. 21 in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings. The now-Louisiana State commit has plenty of twitch and athleticism in the frame and turned heads at the WWBA Underclass World Championship in October with a loud double to the opposite gap and quickness that makes him an asset in the outfield. The Pennsylvania native shined in both the Underclass World Championship and the 15u WWBA National Championship in July. Between the two events, Kling batted .468 with three home runs, 14 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

26. Andrew Woods, rhp, Monroe, La. (Alabama)
Having not been to a Perfect Game event since running his fastball up to 81 mph at the 2018 14u National Showcase, Woods climbed the rankings ladder this summer with three impressive performances at some of Perfect Game’s most marquee summer events. Woods, who has climbed nearly 200 spots this summer to No. 26 in the 2022 class, showcased a lively 91 mph fastball at both the Junior National Showcase in June and the 15u WWBA in July. After the outstanding summer, Woods impressed once more with an excellent three-pitch mix at the Underclass All-American Games in August. The Alabama commit has plenty of room to continue filling out his 6-foot-2 frame and it will be exciting to see how the righthander continues to develop over the next couple years.

67. Lukas Schramm, of, Apex, N.C. (Kentucky)
A primary outfielder, Schramm is another player that showed excellent two-way potential at the 15u and 16u WWBA National Championship tournaments this summer. Ranked as a High Follow prior to the summer tournament circuit, Schramm impressed with an upper-80s fastball in Atlanta and recorded a 95 mph Exit Velocity at the Sunshine Southeast Showcase in May. Schramm comes in at No. 70 in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings and the Kentucky commit should only continue to add more strength to the already physical 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame.

74. Jett Williams, ss, Heath, Texas (Texas A&M)
Williams was another player to make a huge jump from outside the rankings this summer, coming in at No. 74 in the latest edition. Williams adds to the list of legitimate two-way prospects highlighted here and the Texas native showed high-end potential both in the middle infield and on the mound this summer. The Texas A&M commit is electric on the mound, using all his 5-foot-8, 162-pound frame to explode down the mound and run the fastball up to 92 mph. While Williams can consistently turn heads on the mound, part of what makes his game so special is his ability to get it done at the plate as well. Williams hit above the .300 mark at the both the 15u and 16u South National Championships in Texas and followed that up with a .364 average at the PG 15u World Series in Florida.

75. Eli Jerzembeck, rhp, Charlotte, N.C. (South Carolina)
Though it was a one-event look at Jerzembeck this summer, the righthander shined in his nine innings of work at the 15u WWBA in Atlanta this summer, allowing him to climb from outside the Top 500 all the way to No. 75 in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings. Jerzembeck features a fastball up to 90 mph as well as a breaking ball he can spin at slightly above 2800 RPM. The South Carolina commit impressed scouts this summer with command of a quality three-pitch mix and the present athleticism and room to fill in the 6-foot-2 frame could lead to even more jumps as his high school career presses on.

81. Zachary Showalter, rhp, Wesley Chapel, Fla. (South Florida)
Ranked outside the Top 1000 at the beginning of May, Showalter has made one of the biggest jumps in the 2022 class, climbing all the way to No. 81 in the latest edition of the player rankings. The South Florida commit impressed with solid performances on the mound at both the 15u WWBA in July and the Underclass World Championship last month. The righthander shows excellent command of the zone and uses a low-70s curveball to give hitters a different look from the upper-80s fastball. The Florida native has plenty of strength in the 6-foot frame and it will be exciting to see if he can continue to pitch at a high level.

126. Wyatt Wiatrek, rhp, Sinton, Texas (Louisiana State)
A recent Louisiana State commit, Wiatrek used impressive pitching performances at both the 15u South National Championship and PG 15u World Series to vault into the 2022 player rankings, settling in at No. 126 in this week’s latest edition. The Texan caught the attention of scouts this summer with a 90 mph fastball and plenty of strength and athleticism in the 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame. The righthander shows excellent command of a three-pitch mix and was an integral part of a championship run for Texas Twelve down in Dallas. With so much strength in the young frame, Wiatrek could turn out to be one of the biggest risers by the time this class finishes their high school career.

146. Emaarion Boyd, of, Batesville, Miss. (Uncommitted)
Emaarion Boyd went from unknown to the talk of the WWBA Underclass World Championship this fall, putting together one of the louder performances on day one of the event. Boyd’s head-turning display of power and athleticism allowed him to leap from unranked all the way to No. 146 in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings. The Mississippi native’s combination of already high-end speed and a toolsy offensive skillset have him flying up in this loaded 2022 class and it will be exciting to see how Boyd improves and continues to wow in the future.

168. Bogan Simmons, c, Fayetteville, Ga. (Uncommitted)
After starting the summer relatively unknown in the 2022 class, Simmons hit his way into the Top 200 this summer, concluding what was an impressive two months at the Southeast Top Prospect Games in August. Ranked as the No. 168 player in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings, Simmons was named to the Top Prospect List at the Games in August, showcasing advanced receiving skills, pull-side power and a heavy fastball up to 88 mph. Simmons leap into the rankings was well deserved after a strong summer and it will be exciting to follow the Georgia native as his prep career continues to unfold.

204. Reginald Austin, ss, Atlanta, Ga. (Uncommitted)
Austin vaulting nearly into the Top 200 of the latest 2022 player rankings, checking in at No. 204. Austin turned heads this summer with some loud offensive performances at the East Cobb complex and he also showed off a live arm with a heavy fastball that reached 90 mph. Earning MVP honors at the Summer Showdown, Austin is an uncommitted name to know in the 2022 class and should continue to make noise in the updated player rankings as he adds to the frame and develops both at the plate and on the mound.

243. Jordan Austin, of, Lees Summit, Mo. (Uncommitted)
Austin has made a huge climb in the 2022 player rankings this summer and fall, leaping from the Follow list to No. 243 in the latest edition. Austin’s jump comes after what was an impressive summer and fall at Perfect Game events, one that included an All-Tournament Team selection at the 15u WWBA National Championship in July and a Top Prospect List nomination at the Fall Top Prospect National Showcase just last month. The uncommitted outfielder from Missouri has impressive speed and athleticism while also showcasing a power tool that was present at the WWBA Sophomore World Championship in September. Austin hit a loud home run at Terry Park at that event and the frame should fill out and allow for even more power numbers in the future.

375. Justin Hackett, rhp, Winterset, Iowa (Uncommitted)
Hackett put together arguably the most impressive fall of anyone in Iowa’s 2022 class and this performance allowed him to climb from a High Follow all the way to No. 375 in the latest edition of the player rankings. Hackett ran his fastball up to 87 mph at both the Midwest Underclass Championship at Prospect Meadows and the Underclass World Championship in Fort Myers this fall and the righthander continues to show excellent command and feel for the zone with a quality three-pitch mix. Hackett already shows the ability to change eye levels with the fastball and refinement of his secondary stuff could lead to more jumps in the 2022 rankings in the future.
