HS Rankings Update: April 18

When you look at the upper part of the National Top 50, there’s not a lot of shakeup given the top tier of teams have continued to bolster their resumes with extensive amounts of wins, and against good competition. IMG Academy (Fla.) and Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) are still without a loss on the year, with IMG winning 2 extra-inning games last week, while Bishop Gorman (Nev.), Barbe (La.) and Notre Dame (Calif.) have been excellent with Notre Dame winning the Boras.

Where the shakeup really comes in the back half of the rankings as 11 new teams joined the Top 50 this week, most of which were for the first time this season. Cartersville (Ga.) has not lost a game outside of the Showdown, winning 20 in a row now, St. Johns College HS (D.C.) has started the year in a strong way, Friendswood (Texas) is the top 5A team in Texas and looks great with a 21-3 record, Cardinal Newman (Calif.) won the NorCal Boras Classic, Center Grove (Ind.) is now 10-0 in Indiana, Mountain Ridge (Ariz.) has a bunch of good wins under their belt, Broomfield (Colo.) is still undefeated through 10+ games as well, The Benjamin School (Fla.) has only lost a single game in South Florida with some good wins in there, North Oconee (Ga.) has tallied a ton of wins and meets Cherokee Bluff this week, Malvern Prep (Pa.) is off to a good start per usual in Pennsylvania and Northville (Mich.) has been excellent early on, only behind OLSM in Michigan.
