JUCO Top 25: April 16

For the first time in a little over a month, we have a new number 1. Gaston makes the 5 spot jump to the top. The Rhinos have been a consistent contender at the top of the list dating back to the middle part of February and held the nation’s number 2 spot for three weeks consecutively through the middle of March. Johnson County and Salt Lake hold their grips on 2 and 3 with the red hot Iowa Western joining them at 4 after another clean week. The previous number 1, Central Arizona, drops to 5 after a rather disappointing 2-2 week. Still, certainly one of the nation’s top squads and still likely the odds on favorite to win it all in 2024.

In other top 10 action, Florence-Darlington and Walters State split their 2 game series. That fits how we see them at this point. Two terrific teams both littered with future division 1 talent. They both rise 1 spot each. Pearl River keeps rolling with two sweeps of their own and a +41 run differential across their 4 wins. Short look ahead, the Wildcats play host to the 19th ranked East Central Warriors this Wednesday in Poplarville. Northwest Florida rounds out the top 10, certainly a team we think could give anyone in the nation all they could handle head to head.

Outside of the top 10, Weatherford drops after a series loss to Grayson. Georgia Highlands, Tyler, Kansas City Kansas, and Crowder all continue to win. Gulf Coast continues to slide some but certainly a team that has the ability to get hot in a hurry. We welcome back Florida Southwestern and Palomar.
