ATLANTA, Ga. -- The 20th annual WWBA 17u National Championship is back again this week in Atlanta, Ga. from July 7-14 at the East Cobb Complex, bringing in much of the top talent that will be featured later this summer at Perfect Game’s National Showcase and All-American Classic.

One of PG’s biggest events of the entire year, the WWBA 17u National Championship will host 434 teams in Georgia, with teams split between 72 pools, each playing five pool play games before bracket play begins. Pool winners and the next 55 best teams (second place pool finishers determined in a wild card fashion) will advance to the 128-team single-elimination winner’s bracket.

The talent in town this week is truly unmatched. Four of the top-five prospects in the 2023 class are rostered for the event: Maxwell Clark (No. 1, Indiana Bulls 17u National), Walker Jenkins (No. 2, South Charlotte Panthers 2023), Aidan Miller (No. 4, Top Tier Roos American 2023), and Braden Holcomb (No. 5, Power Baseball 2023 Marucci).

Overall, seven of the top-10 prospects in the 2023 class are rostered, 14 of the top-20, and an incredible 81 of the top-100. The event is certainly not top-heavy either, with thousands of nationally ranked prospects set to attend.

The 2024 class will also be well-represented, with Derek Curiel (No. 1 prospect, FTB/Phillies ST 2023 National), Michael Mullinax (No. 3, Team Elite 17u Scout – Black), and Bryce Clavon (No. 4, East Cobb Astros 16u) all rostered. In total, 32 of the top-100 prospects in the 2024 class will be playing up an age level at the WWBA 17u National Championship.

Canes National/NY Mets Scout Team will have high expectations this week as winners of three of the past five 17u National Championships, and they enter the tournament as the No. 1 nationally ranked program. Canes will feature 14 top-100 prospects between the 2023 and 2024 classes, and the depth beyond those prospects is mostly all top-200 or top-300.
