2016 Florida Top Prospect Showcase

Gavin Garmhausen (2017 OF, Traverse City, MI) demonstrated quick hands, plus bat speed at the plate which culminated with a strong single to reach base. Also, stole a bag to show off his 6.96 60 speed.

Jayden Tisseker (2017 RHP/2B, Brick, NJ) displayed good patience at the plate with the ability to stay back on off speed, drives the ball up the middle. He cut the baseball in half that roped two singles on the day. 

Fabian Ortega (2017 RHP/OF, Miami, FL) produced both at the plate and on the mound today. Sprayed the baseball to all fields that resulted in a double in one of his plate appearances. 80-83 MPH on the bump and very comfortable with his off speed pitches.

Frank Sanchez-Vahamonde (2017 MIF, Moca, PR) scorched two doubles that exploded off the barrel. Generates torque with gap to gap power. Above average running ability, very smart on bases. 

John "Drew" Dwyer (2017 RHP, Fort Myers, FL) consistent with command, and filled up the strike zone. Mid to upper 80's fastball that he complimented with a plus breaking ball.

Devin Adams (2017 RHP, Miramar, FL) projects well with a big frame. Fastball was 86-88 MPH, stayed down in the zone, attacked hitters.

Trey Fields (2017 C/IF, Englewood, FL) presented pitch ability with low to mid 80's fastball, topping 86 MPH. Lean, athletic frame with room to fill.

Aaron Bracho (SS, El Tigrito, AN-VEN) had a good day at the plate going 3-3 with a double, triple and a run scored. He made consistent hard contact with a line drive swing plane and displayed good bat speed.

Dustin Rogers (2017, C, OF/RHP, Navarre, FL) made consistent contact throughout the game going 2-3 with two singles and a run scored. Rogers showed a line drive swing plane with solid bat speed at the plate.

Joseph Juliano (2017, C, Coral Springs, FL) reached base in both plate appearances on the day including after a ringing line drive double in the 6th inning. He scored one of his teams' two runs while handling the pitching staff from behind the plate.

Ryan Velazquez (2017, RHP, San Juan, Puerto Rico) used a fastball that reached 87 MPH as well as a slider and change mix, both in the mid 70's to strikeout seven while only allowing one hit over four innings of work. 

Brandon Rushing (2017, RHP, Lake Charles , LA) was strong early in the game seeing his fastball top at 87 MPH. He allowed only two hits in four innings while striking out six without issuing a walk. A three pitch mix including a curveball at 70 MPH and change that sat 74-77 MPH allowed him to keep hitters off balance throughout the game.

Conrad Schlegel (2017, LHP, Lighthouse Point, FL) had a solid outing pitching four innings, giving up one hit and striking out five. Schlegel had a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting 77-83 MPH, curveball at 71 MPH and change-up at 65 MPH. He pounded the zone throughout the game and worked with a fast tempo.

Andres Rodriguez (2017, LHP, Hialeah, FL) threw four innings on the bump, giving up three hits and striking out five. Rodriguez pounded the zone throughout his outing and sat 79-84 MPH with his fastball that had late life, mixed in a curveball at 65 MPH and flashed change-up potential at 74 MPH.

Lernix Williams (2017 C/IF,  Boynton Beach, FL), who attends Trinity Christian Academy, stood out at the plate today going 3-3 with a single, double, and triple. He showed good bat speed, and consistently made hard contact with the ball jumping off the bat during each plate appearance. 

Kole Barkhaus (2017 RHP, Woodburn, IN) commanded the zone well today with a low 80's fastball striking out five  in three innings of work on the bump. Good extension, downhill plane on fastball, Lean frame with room to fill, good student.

John "Drew" Dwyer (2017 RHP/OF, Fort Myers, FL) showed a high leg lift and smooth arm action. Uses his lower half nicely for power and extension. Works well in and out. Was 87-88 topping 89 with his fastball. 

Christopher De Guzman (2017 SS, Fajardo, PR) showed pop to all fields, good swing path, going 2-3 today with two singles. Field awareness around the base path. Ran a 6.97 60 during workouts. 

Joesph Delgatto (2017 RHP/OF, Spring Hill, FL) demonstrated gap to gap power at the plate. Ripped a line drive double to show hard contact in the box. 

Landon Fish (2017 OF, New Port Richey, FL) laced an RBI double in the last inning of the game.  Showed bat speed and natural barrel whip.

Jose Varela (2017 SS, Miami, FL) used his size well with a good hand path to the baseball.  Lower half was explosive, very projectable power.

Dustin Rogers (2017 C, Navarre, FL) was another prospect with good size and athleticism, got his body in a strong launch position and really showed off his strength with ability to drive the baseball to all fields.

Joseph Juliano (2017 C, Coral Springs, FL) displayed good shift into contact with good bat speed.  Barreled up the baseball nicely with good control throughout the swing.

Josh Rulli (2017 C, Riverview, FL) had good balance with quickness throughout body, drove the ball well.  Good lower half drive and hip rotation to the baseball, quick hands on every swing.

Eduardo Ayala (2017 3B, North Lauderdale, FL) showed really good rhythm in his load with advanced movements.  Had good torque position that lead to good bat speed and a quality round.

Rafael Santos (2017 OF, Deerfield Beach, FL) had a good round showed projectable size, creates elastic tension through swing with good rotation to the baseball with strength.

Justin Stewart (2018 RHP, Bartow, FL) displayed good barrel to the baseball with leverage, matched plane nicely with the baseball and can barrel it up to all fields.

Kevin Bermudez (2017 C, Winter Park, FL) after settling in to the round really used his lower half well and explosively, matched plane with the barrel and good bat speed showed power to left field. 

Aaron Bracho (SS, El Tigrito, AN) is switch hitter with similar movements from both sides of the plate. Showed advanced actions with early leg lift, created bat speed from stride forward and hand separation, the ball really jumped off the bat to all fields.

Connor Kehl (2017 2B, Eden Prairie, MN) ball jumped off the bat to all fields and kept it simple at the plate. 

Ramon Ripoll (2017 OF, Fort Lauderdale, FL) starts with weight shifted slightly to back side, slight leg lift and stride generated bat speed through the zone, was on plane and drove line drives to the middle of the field.

Rafael Santos (2017, OF/1B, Deerfield Beach, FL) had a solid performance 1-3 at the plate with a double and a stolen base. He showed an aggressive power approach at the plate, easy effort swing with lift and a good weight transfer. Santos also pitched an inning sitting 83-84 MPH with his FB. Pitched from a 3/4 slot and was aggressive with his FB that had good arm side run.

Eduardo Ayala (2017, 3B/C, North Lauderdale, FL) showed a good approach at the plate with pull power going 2-3 with two singles, two runs scored and two stolen bases. He also displayed good instincts on the bases with an aggressive demeanor.

Justin Stewart (2018, RHP, Bartow, FL) showed well on the mound in four innings of work punching out eight of the seventeen hitters he faced. He displayed a easy on line delivery, good tempo, and went right at hitters. His FB sat 83-85 MPH with arm side run. Stewart mixed in a 72 MPH late sweeping slider with with 10/4 shape to keep hitters off balance.

Osvaldo Mendez (2017, LHP, Carolina, PR) pitched four solid innings, giving up zero hits, and striking out nine of the thirteen hitters he faced. Mendez showed a easy delivery on the mound pitching from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. His FB sat 81-83 MPH with arm side run with his out pitch being a short braking slider that had late action.
