3- Maroon v. 4- Navy Game Highlights
11/13/2022 3:04:37 PM

3 - Maroon

Michael Lyons (2026 LHP, Kathleen, GA) started for Maroon and was impressive, working three innings where he scattered three hits, and struck out five. Lyons delivers with loose and smooth actions, allowing his arm to work out front with extension and hand whip upon release. He mixed a fastball up to 65-mph with his curveball he used minimally, yet when right it was a good one with 1/7 shape and downer action.

Carmelo Jones (2024 OF, Douglasville, GA) performed well all over the field. Went 1-for-3 at the plate with a knock to the pull side. Stays short with his swing through the hitting zone allowing him to stay connected and make strong contact with the barrel. On the mound, Jones appeared as the first reliever out of the bullpen, and worked three, one-hit innings with two strikeouts. Jones maintained a mechanically sound delivery on the mound, which allowed him to get into his lower half and fuel his repertoire through the zone with strength. He did a nice job mixing his fastball up to 78-mph with his curveball and changeup, both in the low 60’s most of the way.

Bryce Adams (2024 OF, Woodstock, GA) was yet another member of Maroon who performed well in all phases during the tie. Adams hit leadoff for his club and turned in a 1-for-3 day with a triple and run scored. Adams was able to showcase patience in the box, and work into hitter’s counts where he hunted fastballs with confidence. He displayed a smooth swing, where his hips lead his hands, and he creates nice torque, whipping his barrel through the zone, making contact out front with extension. On the triple, Adams’ barrel was loud, as he produced carry into the gap, and was able to turn on the jets with first step quickness out of the box and underway speed, making it to third with ease. Ranked as the 227th outfielder in the 2024 class.

Andrew Carter (2024 OF, Powder Springs, GA) displayed the actions and result that we have come to expect from the young outfielder at Perfect Game events. At the plate, Carter maintains a simplistic approach, where he never tries to do too much. He stays short through the hitting zone with the swing and showcases his athleticism and twitch time and again. 1-for-3 on the day with a triple, the extra-base hit was loud, as he met a first-pitch fastball out front and drove it to straight away center. Speed has always been a tool Carter has utilized over the years, and on the triple, he got out of the box fast, and went first to third with ease, as he maintains large strides, and plus speed, as it doesn’t take much to get going. The uncommitted ballplayer is super talented, as he is ranked as the 87th best outfielder in the 2024 class by our scouts.

4 - Navy

Damian Brown (2024 OF, Buford, GA)was able to contribute to his club’s tying effort in a big way as he turned in a multi-hit game from the leadoff spot in the order. At the plate, he demonstrates a smooth stroke, torque generation with the lower half, and hip fire that generates hard-hit, line-drive contact to the gaps. A good athlete, Brown moves well on the bases with acumen, leading to a run scored, his club’s solo run in the contest. Not to be outdone, Brown would appear on the mound in a relief effort and turned in two-innings where he stranded a hit and struck out five. To navigate his appearance, he mixed a fastball up to 80-mph with a curveball up to 72-mph with depth and 11/5 shape that created a lot of swing-and-miss.

Caleb Thrasher (2026 LHP, Albany, KY) earned the start for Navy and was excellent on the mound. Caleb would work the first three innings, hitless, with eight strikeouts. On the mound, Caleb deploys smooth mechanics and a nice rhythm to his delivery. He releases from a three-quarter slot, which stays consistent across his repertoire. Issuing just 60-pitches, he managed to fill the zone over 50%, working ahead of most of the hitters he faced. To navigate his outing, he featured a fastball up to 80-mph, with a curveball with evident feel and comfortability at 70-mph.

Yenli Nolasco (2025 OF, Dallas, GA) already is a highly ranked outfielder in both the state (Georgia), and the 2025 class, and proved why yet again at a PG event as he went 1-for-2 with a double at the plate and pitched the last two innings to the tune of one-hit, and four strikeouts. With evident athleticism in all phases, Nolasco kept his foot on the gas and stayed aggressive in all phases, playing with the advanced actions we are used to seeing from the young primary outfielder. At the plate, Nolasco jumped all over a fastball in, driving it to the pull side gap for a double. On the mound, Nolasco pitches with confidence and pitchability as he mixed his fastball up to 81-mph with run and a curveball in the low 70’s with bite and downer action through the zone.
