2021 Miami Prospect Showcase (11/06/2021 - 11/07/2021)

Batting Practice Highlights
11/6/2021 10:57:11 PM

Giancarlo Arencibia (2024 MIF, Metairie, LA) started BP off well showing a really fluid and synced up righthanded stroke with natural feel for the barrel and strong line drive contact to the middle of the field.

Luis Castillo (2023 OF, Miami, FL) took the loudest round of the day driving the ball in the air the other way with serious authority sending most of the balls in his round over the wall, including a handful on top of the school in right-center. It’s a consistent barrel paired with a ton of whip and huge juice to it.

Rickey Rivas (2022 SS, Hialeah, FL) showed some feel to hit from both sides of the plate with good control of the barrel and bat speed to go with the ability to drop the bat head and create backspin from the left side.

Brian Cordero (2023 1B, Davie, FL) is a physical righthanded hitter who showed good hand speed and the strength plays well with his compact stroke as he can get on the barrel often and produce carry to the gaps.

Bryan Borges (2026 C, Miami, FL) was timed up from the jump as he stepped in and showed confidence in finding the barrel with a repeated swing, explosiveness in the hips and the looseness to make adjustments throughout the round.

Nicholas Calderon (2023 MIF, Kendall, FL) is an athletic up the middle prospect who simplifies well at the dish showing a short yet quick swing and an accurate barrel that allowed him to produce to the middle with ease.

Derrick Corona (2022 SS, Miami, FL) showed really good bat speed from the right side and can ambush pitches out front of the plate producing hard contact to the middle of the field that translates well.

Yoanis Aleksandrov (2022 C, Nettuno, LZ) is a really physical righthanded hitting catcher who works with a ton of intent in the box and you can see the strength in how he swings it and in how well the ball comes off.

Brandley Rincones (2022 1B, Oranjestad, AA) is a strong lefthanded hitter who worked under control in his round using the strength in his hands and looseness in the wrists to turn the barrel and drive the ball well on a line.

Adrian Santana (2023 SS, Miami, FL) is extremely accurate with the barrel and showed it from both sides of the plate as he barreled balls to all parts of the field with intent and showed some signs of pop that can be projected on.

Bradley Link (2023 SS, Palm Beach Gardens, FL) is an explosive athlete and his strength translates well in the bat as he generates big bat speed and can really impact the baseball in the air when he’s on time and on plane.

David Alvarez (2023 OF, Woodbridge, ON) showed tons of strength in his lefthanded stroke today while staying under control and producing hard contact to the pull side without much effort and with consistency.

Pedro Acosta (2023 SS, Hialeah, FL) is an athletic righthanded hitter and the offensive pieces project well as he stays tight through the zone with the hands which allows him to hit from all parts.

Jordan Brown (2022 OF, Margate, FL) is an explosive athlete as well and his swing impressed from the right side as he worked with a ton of intent and produced loud contact to the middle of the field that translated well to game action.

Colin Thacker (2026 C, Orlando, FL) is a young catcher who has some quickness in the bat that was intriguing as the physical projection and present lean strength stand out a bit for the age.

Frank Navarro (2022 2B, Maunabo, PR) took a steady round showing he can work under control but produce strong contact to the pull gap as he racked up a number of well-struck liners that carried out a good ways.
